just did the motor swap and the stock cable (went to a 235/3speed) is too short. Anybody got a source for a cable to go to a 350/350 set-up?
Figure out the leangth you need and go to NAPA. They will pull one off the shelf that will work. Dont go to checker/autozone type places they dont have a clue. The one I used was an early chev pickup cable.
or you can get cable extender made from a speedo shop however long you need. i did one on my '64 panel, went from a 3spd to a 3spd with overdrive and it was about 8" too short. had them make one up for about $20. also that's kinda weird, went from a 235/pg to a 283/th350 in my girls '61 bel air and the cable was fine.
i needed a new speedo cable for my 23 t-bucket. so i went to auto zone with the cable in hand and ask if they can match one up for me . the guy asked me what kind of car i have. i told him what i have. he just gave me this look... so i left. so i drove 3 mi. down the road to napa. went inside and ask the guy i needed a speedo cable. again i was ask what kind of car i have. i said i have ahh. and he said oh you have one of those. so i handed him the cable. with in seconds he came back with the cable i needed. so you might want to try napa. or if they can't help you try your locale ma & pa auto part store the one that been around for 4 or 5 generations... good luck
