Dirty, dirty, rats. Well mice actually. How do you get these ******* things out of a car? *******s are eating paper stuff in the trunk, glove box, back seat, etc... They’re in my daily driver, so radical overnight A-bomb attacks won’t work, cause I need to drive this heap bright and early each morning. I know to remove the paper, but they got to the registration, too. WTF. I don’t just want to make living in my car so hard that they move on, I want to joy of knowing that the dirty mothers are DEAD. Any ideas?

A friend of mine swears by bars of Irish Spring soap. Put one in the car, one in the trunk and one in the engine compartment. I did this last year with my car and didnt have any problems. Then again, I might have just gotten lucky!

201 is right. I went old school, got a cat that just lives in my shop. I make the wife change the litter box, but I feed it. Works perfect.

Don't use poison or the little ******s will die somewhere in the car where you can't get them out. Been down that road, you either have to smell em or take apart the dash for dead rat extraction! I hate cats but they have their purpose. A fisety small dog would also do. I've been told moth balls but no confirmation on that.

LIGHT rats and mice dont like light. Park your car out in an open area an light it up with drop lights. They feel unsafe and go away. Also mothballs work but your car will smell like old people. If you wanted a more fun aproach my dad fake paper cups and puts coke in them. When the mice or rats drink the coke if builds up in side (they cant burp) and explode. kinda messy but its works.

the moth balls do work, the trick is make little baggies out of pantie hose and place them around the cars.

201 nailed it. I have SEVEN cats and not a mouse in sight. Neither neighbor has seen one for several years too and they love it...

  10. When i found my 65 pontiac it was sitting in a barn for 10 years, i brought it home and the next night started to mess around with it and heard some scratching above my head. Sure enough i got more than just a car as i had the little *******s living in my headliner and eating and nesting with the stuffing out of my seats. Needless to say i gutten the interior (wearing a respirator etc.) as if they are a certain type of field mouse you can catch Haunta virus from them and thier dried ****.) So i used bleach and water and sprayed everything down to lower the dust factor and set out traps. Got 11 in total. After that i cut slits in the headliner and soaked it with bleach and water and then wire wheels everything and painted. Brutal. So to keep them out after that i put a ring of bleach around the car on the floor and a bar of soap under the seat (it does work). i have yet to get them back. Also you can get these things that plug intothe wall that emit a high frequency that mice hate, if you have a outlet in your garage might help. good luck!

I'd drop a box of flathead parts on the little ****er, actually there's some truth to this answer as i found a mouse in the kitchen & the nearest weapon was a box of flathead parts! needless to say he's one ****in flatheaded mouse. ;-)

Try antifreeze. It's sweet . They can't burb and drink the hell out of it. Put out some d-con -that won't kill 'em but they'll eat it and then need to drink something --antifreeze !

problem is getting them out of the car then killing them, cant help with that. but if anyone has a problem with moles I found that parking the mower next to the hole with a tube running the exhaust into the ground gets em everytime, you could use this to kill the mice but then they are stuck in your car.

Moth balls don't work on my mice! I put the moth balls in my'56 Buick before I stored it for the winter, in the spring I found mouse **** on top of the moth balls! And a bunch off seat stuff in the trunk for a nest. I like to use poison on 'em, outside of the car. N.N.

I cut the bars of Irish Spring in half and place them around the inside of the car. Been doing this for the last ten years and not a mouse to be seen:cool:

All I've ever gotten with Irish Spring as a mouse deterant is green and brown colored mouse turds. It hasn't worked for us.

Put an open bucket of ammonia in the car. The smell drives the little ******s off.

    Or, if all else fails..

Start car, roll up windows, hose from exhasust pipe through hole in rusty floorpan, have a beer and burger. Buy the time you're done they should be good and dead.

Our shop is a converted dairy barn, so we are always dealing with unwanted guests. Here is my proven system for mice:

    1. Go to Home Cheapo and get some plastic spring type traps
(the clamshell ones work pretty well, don't get the cheap wood ones because it's tough to empty them without touching the critters)

    2. Get 1 walnut or a few peanuts.

    3. Get a teas**** full of peanut ****er, put it in a ziploc bag.

    4. Break up the nuts.

    5. Glue little nut pieces to the trap triggers with the peanut ****er.
(use nuts sparingly, but use enough peanut ****er to really stick the nut on there)

    6. Place the loaded traps strategically around where you have found evidence of mice. They like to follow walls and things, so place the traps along the side of something - especially near the tires where they get up into cars and near possible entry ways to the garage.

    7. Enjoy frosty beverage while unsuspecting rodents trip over each other to get whacked.

    8. Empty the traps and reload as necessary. Many times they don't have time to get the nut. Keeping the peanut ****er in a ziploc is easier and cleaner than going back to the jar at this point. Just be sure to hide it in a cabinet or jar so they don't get your stash.

    9. When the traps are empty more than a couple of days in a row, move them somewhere else.

This WORKS. Peanut ****er is like crack to those little f@<kers. Last fall I got over a dozen with 1 walnut.

I second the vote against poison. You do not want to know what old dead mice smell like in your vents. We have also tried those high pitched noise makers, and I have caught several in traps not 6 feet away from one of those - don't bother. Get them out into the open and let em have it.

Give us a tally when you think you've gotten them all.

    Good luck,
    -SeeDan

I thought about the poison, and quickly thought of how bad those mothers would smell like rotting in the dash. Unfortunatly the car has to stay outside, as the garage is full. I will try the mothballs, soap, and sticky traps for now. Micky is ******* me off.

Hotrodpurplepickup on the RRT had an ingenious trap with a 5 gallon bucket of water about 8 inches full. Then put a rod across the top of the bucket with a alunimun can skewered int he middle of it. Rub peanut ****er on the can. Put a ramp up to the top of the bucket. They climb the ramp, jump to the can to get the peanut ****er, fall in and drown.

I havent done it, I use glue traps. But the pictures he posted had dead mice in it, so it must work.

PEANUT ****ER! all the exterminators i meet at the bakery's i work in use poison that smells and looks like peanut ****er. i use a old 3# coffee can half filled with old motor oil. across the top get some wire, a soda can, put the wire through the can so it spins and secure the ends of the wire across the top of coffee can. put some peanut ****er on the soda can, those little ****ers can't resist and walk across wire to the smooth pop can it spins and dumps them into the oil. they drown because they soak up the oil like a sponge! empty it out as needed.
