    54 this year.
Amazing after you hit 50 you start doing the math to figure out your age. time goes by so damn fast.
Its amazing the varied ages of a group that is a tight as this.
If it wasnt for this faceless messageboard... this probably could never happen.

  13. I started a thread on age average on the HAMB. I didn't tally it up, but there's a lot more older guys than i would've guessed (i'm almost 52). To me, it seems their posts reflect that of a person more youthful than their actual age. Which confirms my belief that old cars'll keep you young. Most my friends my age that are not into cars seemed to have grown old. Nothing really thrills them. They say i should grow up. Like you, i ask? It stops them dead in their tracks.

33 years old and still acting like I am 15, chasing tail and building cars. Other than the tail is the wife and the cars have got older.

  17. what shaped your brain when the the brain was shapable is why us 50 yearolds like hotrods.
if you poll the H.A.M.B on their youth on influences..
    car magazines
    bike customizing
    model building/ wrecking
older siblings cars-hotrods -muscle cars- repairs
    couple of naybors hot rods/racecars
    cheap cars/ disposable transportation

the order is not important but most will say the list is what formed the love of the hotrod life

    Running young guys off???
Dont think so. the age of the ones being run off has nothing to do with it. I can't count the number of times a 16-20 year old was given the red carpet just because he was respectful, wanted to learn and was interested in the idea of traditional rodism.
I expected the numbers to come out as they are.
I think its fabulous to see all age groups being so tight.
thanks Ryan for what you do> PJ

  19. damn most you guys are old, I turn 35 this year so that young by Hamb standards.. But my body aches like an old man due to repeat slamming on concrete while skating bowls.

Well I am 33 right now, so I guess my average age is, let's see high and low divided by 2, 16.5!

  21. Age has nothing to do with being part of the group. Being a total fucktard has an effect. Somebody that sticks around and learns, before jumping head first into the shallow end, will survive. In the earlier versions of the HAMB, there were plenty of people that were handed their ass after they stepped on their own dick! That was some flaming!!!

As far as age, I'm just shy of 53 myself, if it matters.-MIKE

The reason alot of younger guys get run off is cause they think they know it all. I'm only 18, and I'll be the first to admit, I don't know shit. Some of the other freshmen in the auto program I'm in think they're the next Jimmy Shine cause they've heard of a flathead before. I try to be as respectful as possible, cause the older guys are the ones that have been around the block before and have a thing or two to teach us younger guys.

  23. Turned 62 3weeks ago, age is a frame of mind I have been older, but these days I sometimes have to remind myself I am a senior citizen.

    Groucho -

thx for posting it up; was a good read.

I've noticed a number of my high school and college buddies have aged quite a bit more than I - both in appearance and point of view. In some instances, they've just stopped - like it's still 1983.

I'm not sure it's all about cars, tho. If you're 'into' the thrills of speed - whether it's by sk8, board, M/C or hotrod - it seems like the relentless pursuit of 'faster' attracts folks who just dont age like the average joe.

Not ready for nap time just yet, man.

When I was born I was 0. Now I am 63. So my average age is 31.5.
