I love Paso...I get a weekend out of town with the Wife and it's an excuse to get out to California...I also love the laid back vibe of the show.

Pile up was a blast and I can't wait for this year. However, we're going to try the Jalopy Showdown in May. Of course that follows Autorama next weekend, and VLV the following month.

If the HAMB Drags and/or B'ville aren't on your list as favorites it's because you haven't attended yet.

I am actually planning on doing this one in Aug '08 (I'm done with the Nats in L'ville for awhile) and will getting the details from SirStude next month when he comes here for a visit.

Got any inside info regarding this event you wanna share? Is it a weekend event inside the park. Sleep inside the park?

  11. I'm hitting Bonneville this year for the first time, and I suspect all other events I've attended will pale in comparison. Of the ones I've experienced:

Best multi-day event: Lone Star Roundup. THE standard by which all hot rod shows should be measured.

Best single day event: Banks Gearhead Invitational. Absolutely mind-melting array of machinery.

Paso, because there's so much visual variety. I also enjoy GNRS, LARS, and GG Pleasanton. Haven't yet been to CHRR -- maybe this year -- or Roundup.

  15. Pile-Up just 'cuz breeder's so damned pretty in the soft glow of a chilly October sunset. ;)

Really, I've only been to a few big events and the Pile-Up, despite the frosty stones, has a great variety of great cars. Plus it's only 45 minutes from my house.

Hey you so and so - where's my truck?!? PM me dude.

HRR at Beech Bend was my all time favorite, I won't follow it to Ohio though. I'm really wanting to hit the Hunnert and Billetproof Detroit this year.

At the present time it would have to be
    (1)HAMB Drags In Pittsburgh Kansas.
(2)Tulsa Roasters Old Time Drags and Nitro Nationals In Tulsa Ok.
(3)The Cowpasture Reunion in Ardmore Ok.
(4)Whatever happens to pique my curiosity on a given weekend.
In that order,but..... I haven't been to Speed Weeks in Bonneveille or the Chili Bowl in Tulsa or The Day of the Drags in Austin or the Coca Cola Nationals in Cordova yet.

Any Vintage American Race Car or Midstate (NY) Vintage Stock Car Club event. As ya'll know, my first love are the vintage dirt track eastern modifieds. It's more fun if I have a car to race there but not mandatory. Just bench racing with the guys, swappin' lies and checking out everyone's race car turns my crank. BTW, I like to see old cars DOING something, not just being displayed.

This year I'm going to Thompson here in Ohio for the Gasser Reunion. Some day I hope to make it to MoKan. I went to Woodward in '04 and '05 and found the fluff to hot rod ratio uacceptable.

You're right, and I did consider it, however I doubt that very many know what it is or can appreciate it.

    SCARY LARRY'S JALOPY SHOWDOWN RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everything short of the Showdown (or maybe Bonneville :) ) is just an overpriced weekend more suited to the California Duster and cry-baby crowd than the hot rod crowd.

    Bigchief.
