  8. Running a built 6 cylinder flattie in a '51 Ford 2 door. Nicson 2x1 intake with square bowl Holley carbs, homemade split manifold, 3/4 grind flathead cam, Crane electronic ignition, soon to have my Knudsen head bolted on. Sweet ride and a lot of fun. For those of you that don't already know about them, check out the Inliners International website. This is a nationwide club of 4, 6, 8 cylinder inline nuts. They run them at Bonneville, at the drags, on the street. Good bunch to know. Check out pics of my car and engine on the website, Crowley, TX picnic photos.

Great motors. I have a Sprint (four barrel, split exhaust, hot cam) OHC Pontiac motor sitting on a stand waiting for me to find the right rod to put it in. And the right rod means one I can afford... :D

My 57 Chevy still has its original 235. Runs and pulls just fine, so I'll keep it for now.

I'm thinking about pulling it for a Model A project, but I don't like the thought of having to recess the firewall that much.

Otherwise, Clifford proved a long time ago that sixes can haul ass. My dad's construction business used plenty of 300 straight sixes in trucks, and that's close enough to a 302 for me.

Plus, back in the day, my built some kind of kick-ass straight six for street sleeper. Beat plenty of V8s with it.

I run a Chevy 6, webber carb, MSD ign, Langdon duals, with 3 on the tree in a 59 El Camino, my buddy runs a hillside hemi 4bl, dual ex and a 3 speed with OD in his 61 Dodge 2 door wagon, together we can almost crack glass when we get on the pipes. Nothing sounds like a straight 6 with split manifolds. Great mileage but no drag racing.

Yeah they are great motors. Both of mine are original Sprint motors as well. 10.5 compression, hot cam, 4bbl, split manifold. They will give a V8 a good run for the money. I have another 2 of these OHC's in the garage as well. Rare motors always good to have kickin around with spare parts. I am a pontiac OHC fanatic, and with places like Primatech Motorsports, now you can get wicked kool perf parts for these OHC's.

My 56 F100 has the original 223 with 30,000 on a rebuilt. My plan is for a Clifford cam, Clifford dual outlet headers and a Clifford intake with a small Holley 4bbl.

I've got the original 218 flathead L-6 in my 50 Plymouth. I converted to 12V, I have modified cast iron tune ported corvette headers and an offy dual intake with two 2bbl carbs.

I recently pick this up to put in a budget hot rod. A running 41 Pontiac L-head 6 with trans. Can't find much info on these and I doubt it was used much as a hot rod motor but it was cheap and it runs well. So...:D Anyone out there know anything about 'em? -stick

had a 250 Pontiac OHC sprint motor out of a 67 pontiac lemans. I ran this motor with a chev 4 speed in a 37 chev cp. proably one of the strongest and relieable 6,s i've ever had. my curant project is a 27Ford modified with a 4.3 v6,2004r. I just love the sound of them 6,s.

The Studebaker Champion 6 is also a stout engine. Cathcart Studebaker sells some pretty stout Champion 6's. They sound great too!

53 Plymouth 218, balanced, cam, offy intake, split exhaust manifold with 2 into 1, Flowmaster, 3 speed with OD, 4:10 gears. Looks and sounds faster than it runs but lotsa fun and it will cruise all day at 70-75 in OD. Yeah I know, not a traditional hot rod but it's all steel and it gets driven...a lot.......

  27. I've got a 63 Chebby with a 230, lump-port head, 4bbl offy, HEI, and 3-on-the-tree. In the process of building a 292 with hi-compression pistons, the same lump-port head as the 230, a streetable cam, headers, 4 bbl and offy intake, and HEI.

  28. Right- they have 4Bangers! Hah!

  29. Straight six reporting. Well, actually it's a little crooked. ;)

I do have a 261cui from 1957 in my 48 Chevy coupe, its still stock but I have bought a offenhauser dual intake and a pair of fentons for it.

A friend of mine is crazy with these straight sixes, just check out his 34 Chevy sedan- It runs a 216cui with three carbs and a blower!

The picture attached is a bit old, so it has only got two carbs on there... If theres an interest, then I can see if I can get a newer pic!
