I've been reading and collecting parts and analyzing other builds until I finally started today. It will include a multicarbed 327, saginaw 4-speed, hydro clutch and brake under floor, 3" channel and 4-5" chop(will see after channel for headroom), suicide tierod, f1 box, spring to bones(not like pics), 32 shell -2", jeep lowback seats, moon tank in rear over kick, coilovers with ladderbars, silver on black. heres some pics. all info is appreciated good or bad. Thanks to all who posted up tech. To be continued...

I like the Radio Flyer gravity racer pic. Only a little top heavy.

That looks good. sounds like you have a plan that will work very well.

    damn those tires look big..

you are going to mount the spring behind and lower on the axle right ?

    its going to sit low...

yeah I had it set up with the spring mounted to the perch but it was too high. The frame is at 5 1/2" in the front and 6 1/2" rear now but it might come up depending on how the spring behind works out. I had to narrow the frame after a boo boo so I left the perch off and figured I'll wait until I get the one from Macsratz and make it permanent.

When I get back from GNRS I will come by and check it out (plus I want to try those meats on the back of my ride to see if the offset works..)

    Well look at you go..

This is one of the funner parts of building a hot rod....You still need to set the body on the frame, sit on a 5 gallon bucket and make vroom vroom noises.

You haven't fucked it up yet, makbe this weekend we can come and visit.

Got some more work done on the frame. Next is setting the motor and tranny mounts and cutting out the xmember thats in the way. I also want to figure out the steering tierod. not sure if I like it out front. I can actually bend them out a little bit to improve ackerman angle. as usual, questions and critisizms appreciated. Thanks, Rich

Looks great, you have a great start, and it looks like you have a mice a body to start with. A lot nicer than the one that i picked up recently. I am currently in the parts collecting stage for my tudor.

Like the looks you have going.
Front spring shackle angle looks like spring is too long. That is the angle you want at ride height (sp). When you add the motor ect the spring will be hitting the 'bones.

Yeah I was aware of that too. I measured it out and it looked like a 29" spring would work but that was too short. I pounced on the frame with my 250lb ass and it didn't get to vertical but you are right, it is close. I need a 30" spring but I havent had any luck finding one with reversed eyes and less arch. I think if I could find the same length spring with a lot less arch I'd be OK. I want it lower anyway. Any of you parts gurus know of one let me know. Asta

Could you give some info on the tire and wheels you are using. They would look good on my 31 3-window.

Looks really good, and it appears you know what you're doing. Only thing I ask is, are you sure that floor is level? Is that what you're going off for your chassis measurements? Only reason I ask is because I tried building my tudor's chassis on my garage floor and it didn't end up good. After a baseline measurement was off, I ended up cutting the rear clip off and having to redo the frame on a table.

before anything gets tacked I measure it for square and level and then shim or do whatever to make sure it is right. I have a 4x8x1/2" steel welding table I will clamp it to for finish welding. I actually checked the floor for level in that spot too. I dont want to do this twice! heres todays pics. not much though, I need a shifter to do the rest of the bracing, and I am not sure about the pedal location. I went by the directions from Pete and Jakes...we'll see.
Oh yeah, I ordered a new spring-30" is the right spring

Gary, be sure and check the spacing between the front of the motor/water pump and the radiator??? not sure whether you are using an electric sucker or blower or a regular fan???? one picture looks close and another looks ok??? just an observation...dad

ps:... it is nice to watch your progress

Got the new spring in. The shackle angle is much better now. It even has most of a motor to weight it down. Ordered a '32 2" chopped aluminum radiator from PRC and a shifter so I can get back to crackin'. Later

I added a pic of the radiator to waterpump clearance. I have a couple of inches in the front to play with. Trying to keep the clearances and gaps equal and easy on the eye.

Got the body on for some placement so I can finish the frame. It felt pretty good when it basicly fit on the first try! taking measurements and building the frame off of them was pretty nerve racking but Its all downhill from here. I am in the middle between finishing the body out or just running it rusty. It looks pretty good without the chop but I think I will cross that road when I get there. I will sit in it and see where the old noggin is for a headroom check. How about that 32 shell from my local "cool parts" guy! Later...

p.s thats one of my helpers. He really digs the "hotrod"
