eeww you said Boyd- BO Huff does cool work. If you dont know enoug about him - read up on what he has done.Cool guy- Hopefully he will come east one day (other than Lead East)and Ill get a chance to sit and chat over a coffee or beer with him. (No one ever comes East)

Has anyone else notice that the 'famous' (infamous)builders are getting much older now? Anyone know of any up and comers ???Winfield , Barris and even Bo are all getting up there (as we all are).
And Im not referring to the guys who do TV show once and think they know it all or should stay in touch with their beginnings. who are the new 'go to' guys? Are there any?

We usually stop at Bo's place on our trip to Bonneville. He is always a great host and they all stop work to show us around.

  6. Why is there costant bashing of OSR here ?
The only thing that is said about the HAMB there is that there are to many rules here.
Sometimes people here act more like restorers than hot rodders.

met him at the GNRS in Pomona this year. Nice guy with a ton of people around him where ever he went. His kid was stripin next to me for about an hour where we had the panel jam 'n the media was all over him. Bo had some nice rides in the seude building as well as a shoe shine booth where ya could get your picture taken with a couple babes while gettin yer boots done. Quite a show

  8. Not sure whatever happened to Michael Smith's company, Alpine Edge Films or the movie?!?

Their site worked back when this post started last year!?!

Did a search and found some info and photos at www.usa1streetrods.com

Hopefully it'll get some air-time in the near future......

I want my car restored just like Zenor's and Rolf's and Loudpedals and 3Window Larrys and Evels and Bleeds and.....and.....and...........yeah, the HAMB is full of restorers.

I don't know that I would call them up and comers as most have pretty established names but here are a few:

    Cole Foster (Salinas Boys)
    Oz Welch (Oz Kustoms)
    John Aeillo (Aeillo Kustoms)
    Marcos Garcia (Lucky 7 Kustoms)
    Troy Ladd (Hollywood Hot Rods)

Yes you have he's the guy that can't stop putting stuff on his car..

    I really don't like Bo's stuff..One a famous car builder told me
"he really likes to Old man it" Meaning: he always gets to a point
on a car where it you colud say hey that looks right on ...and then
    he adds more to it...

In the last OSR, I think, or the one previous, they had a car by Bo that I really liked--Merc, flamed. Last year he finished a friend's car who had passed away and did it really nice also.

I give him props, as the neighborhood kids all say.

i met bo in the early 80's. he had a body shop in fayetteville arkansas. he was driving a early 50's chevy with a 6 cylinder and a flame job, pretty cool for then. he contracted me to paint a sign for his shop but he wouldn't pay for it, i guess he didn't like the sign, i don't know. anyway he moved away. the sign became a work table in my shop for a bunch of years then just last fall i burned it in a bonfire out back. the funny thing to me is that some of my car buddies asked me if i knew him when he lived here and i told them the story.
they were up in arms. you'd think i destroyed some historic, national monument. hell, i didn't even know he was famous. but if he is famous and maybe even rich, i could sure use the $250. so if you're reading this bo, please send the money.

remember "BO's Paint" looked like chrome slab lettering, so 80's...

Somebody asked for some shots of some of the cars Tony Farnetti built.
I hope these come out alright.
Tony's '35 Ford with Tony Bo & Bo's pen stripping son.
    Next
    Tony and his '35, '41 & '50
    Next
Another '41 Ford and a '56 Ford by Tony.

Who is Bo Huff?? I've known him since about '91 and live about 200 miles from him, but have been by his place a lot of times and have never been disappointed.

I don't like everything he does, but like a lot!!! One thing I can say is that he has more original ideas than anyone I've seen on the custom scene. You might like them or hate them, but they are his and there is no end to them. There are a lot of guys around the country that can do good work and copy other people's work, but not a lot that can come up with as many original ideas as I've seen at Bo's. He isn't afraid to o experiment.

As far as I can tell he never left the custom scene like so many others did in the late 60's and into the 80's. Doing "his style" cars has been there even when it wasn't popular. The type of customs and rods a lot of guys on this site like were his trademark way before this recent resurrection. I'm not saying Bo is the only one who never gave up on customs, but he was one of the few and even though he wasn't well known or talked about by the west coast mags he was there doing his thing during all of those years.

Here is a link to a car show he held in 2001 at his shop:

    http://purplesagetradingpost.com/sumner/carshows/cs-ss-2001-1.html

If you are ever within 200-300 miles of his place (going across 70 or 80) you won't be disappointed in making the trip there.

    c ya,

    Sum

I have a story about this.. I was at SEMA this last time and met a friend of mine there. She was working for OSR and we talked for a while then she says hey let me introduce you to Bo Huff.. I'm like ok..whoever that is... I've heard his name several times but couldn't remember a single thing about him other than he had something to do with cars.. So I meet him.. standing there BSing my way through a conversation, when clearly I was supposed to be awe struck by the opportunity to meet him. Earlier that day I met Gene Winfield, but I knew who he was..

I think Bo Huff, will eventually be remembered by a larger percentage of the car people. It takes time to be recognized as a master at something, usually after you quit doing it. Just look at Van Gogh and Picasso....

I know quite a few legendary car builders, they just don't recieve the press. Some of his stuff is a little gimmicky for me, but he does get coverage and is a builder to boot. More power to him.
