doc, and the others who asked, it was originally built into a hot rod in 1958. Fenders removed, and a 283 c.i. out of a 57 chevy or corvette were installed... hooked up to the original driveline. early/mid 60's, the owner decided he wanted a "show car". the body was chanelled, the doors cut up, a coil sprung rear suspension was installed.. and an automatic. It was painted bronze (the frame is still bronze under the bodyhen i got it and had a white tuck and roll interior. This process took a few years... the owner drove it for a couple years and parked it in the garage.. The owner died in the early 80's. His sister got the car. The brother in law had the mustang II installed and the fibergl*** fenders to try to hide "all the ugliness that front end caused!" the front section of the frame was painted black, a turbo 400 installed, Hurst auto shifter, 68 Firechicken taillights, frenched antenna and it was painted orange. black tuck and roll interior. The front hairpins were used to locate the new 10 bolt rearend. Same coil sprung rear brackets were used and they made 3in spacers to raise the rear. the car was sold in that late 90's to the gentleman i got it from in New york it was sitting awhile. Couple years ago, he decided ha wanted a "rat rod"... black primer and red wheels here we come..... This is from the old owners mouth. waiting for some pics he said he had of it in the 60's when it was bronze at an indoor show he said..? if anyone has pics of a bronze 32 with short doors pm me please. regards, Joe
The coupe looks terrific! I had the opportunity to see it in Rob's garage when the paint was fresh... It looks even BETTER on the street!!!
Joe, Is that your car? Or does it belong to a customer? Either way...it's awsome! I couldn't tell what you meant by short doors, cause you couldn't see the doors in the small pic's. Don't think i've ever seen one with doors like that before. Definatly a different look, for a car with the trends of today.
Man I know it. We have a very sick little one right now though. But on a good note, I got your dash painted!!!!
Awesome. I have another one for you also. I bought a 36 a couple weeks ago and I'm doing the dash the exact same color. Bummer, you could have done them both at the same time! You need to see Joe's 3W going down the road. Baaaaaad.
Now, that is the way I like them... not s****in the ground, not nose-bleed high... damn that's purdy. rockin...
I think... I remember... sometime last year, there was a post here of a collection of photos from an old indoor car show back east somewhere. If I am remembering correctly, there was a nice brown or bronze colored coupe with raised door bottoms in that collection. A chaneled car with unique doors. I'm not sure how to search for that post but maybe it will jog someone elses memory... or we can find out I'm full of **** and the memory is gone! Great looking car by the way. Dan
Shoot..! I didn't even see this thread. This has just taken top spot on my all-time favorite '32 3-window list. There's nothing about it that I don't like. Hat's off to ya, man... Oh, and how about... 'The Killer-B'....? JOE
