    Nothing worse than trying to find a place to hand one on something like a fenderless roadster....Around here most guys just carry it in the car....Hell, even 3 out of 4 late model Corvettes don't put them on and they just drive that way 'til they get caught....Most cops around here don't seem to bother the rodders for this unless they're being complete assholes {burnouts, speeding, etc.}

    Not required in Wv.

  3. 1972 and older only needs one plate in the rear in minnesota , or of it has a street rod , collector , pioneer plate

  4. You Need It In Ct.

  5. None required in Michigan

  6. In Virginia we are issused two tags. However, I have found a section in the state code that allows one plate on antique cars " which have no provision" for a front tag. Since I don't have a mounting bracket for a front tag, I have no provision. This has worked for tha past six years.

  7. Both tags required here in Maryland. I know a guy who has a vette and one who has a Viper. They both refuse to run front plates. They would rather just pay the fine of about $50. We used to get pulled over for stuff like tint, tag covers and front plates, but that happens rarely today. There are a lot of out of state plates in town and, unless the cops in a mood or needs to fill a quota, we don't get messed with much. Most of the cops in my county are car guys anyway and spend more time chasing down the kids in imports.

Yeah- they require front plates and almosty everything else that SUCKS for cars around here.
The guys on Beacon Hill brought back the exhaust bill again this year too- which , if passed, would make it ILLEGAL to own or install any exhaust system which wasnt original to the vehicle.
Mass sucks for hot rodders- its the East Coast California.

Need both plates here in Iowa. Seem's like enforcement with street rodders goes pretty light. As was said before, unless you are doing burnouts or speeding you don't get looked at too hard.

Texas requires two tags, but, if you can find a dealer tag for your year, you can register the tag to the car and run only the rear tag since dealer tags are for the rear only. If you live in Texas and want to know how to registe your Dealer tag, pm me and I'll give ya the instructions that we use, all legal.
On my roadster I run only the rear tag (regular tag) and thelaw leaves me alone about it as they do for most of the Rods around here.

No front plate required with a street rod plate. All others, including antique plates, require both plates.

Mass requires two tags unless you still have the old green tag from the 80's or you use year of mfg plate. I register my AV8 with a non antique plate so I can use it all of the time. When I'm out of state, I take it off.
When I first built my car, I attached it to the headlight bar, but it was a pain in the ass to R&R. Then I built a spreader bar for the frame horns. Now I can remove the plate with one screw.
The cops here are hit or miss as to enforcement. I'm sure if I got bagged for no plate, it'd be at the worst time for me, so I suck it up and run it.

They give ya 2 here in NJ. But nobody cares I have never seen anyone get a ticket .... I run a YOM in front but not from NJ ... SWTF

  16. If you register your car as historic, they give you two plates but you only have to use one on the rear. Sounds kinda strange, but lots of things are strange in this state.....

Texas requires 2. I keep the front one in the truck with a couple of tie wraps in case a hard ass makes me put it on. In the last 33 years ive had the coupe I haven't met a hard ass TDPS trooper. Im sure there are some out there!

Only get issued one in AZ. Started a few years ago as a way to save some money for the state!

You have to have both in IL, but I don't. Never been pulled in the 56 either. Not suppose to have blue dots either, but got them too. Guess I'm going to hell now....

    Yes in ohio both tags.

  23. Wow, sounds like an underhanded way to try to get rid of older cars. Half of the newer cars/trucks in my area run aftermarket exhaust. For a lot of older cars, you can't get the stuff to make it original. We don't have emissions tests for anything made before 1978 and a lot of things such as front plates are rarely enforced.

Texas requires two...one facing the front and one facing the rear..I saw a cool idea on a roadster...both plates were back to back..one facing the front and the other the rear..mounted on the rear...

I believe the reason why they are inforcing this (at least in Cali) so when and if you do run a traffic light, big brother that is watching you can take your pic and send ya a "have a nice day"!!! in the mail a week or 2 later. I got pulled over in my daily driver in S. Pasadena and the cop told me to put it on after I told him how is that when there is no holes to do so on them plastic bumpers? He let me go and I had to drill out some holes to put it on. I drive the same way through there to work everyday and do not want to run into the same problem again. I think they make the front of the car look like shit but, the law is the law. KNUX!
