Since we changed our name from the Cin-Day Rodders to the Scroungers Car Club, we have been stumped for a logo that will work both on a dragger plate and on jackets, etc.

I'm putting up $100 for artist behind the one we choose. It ain't much, but we're not all tht picky...LOL And after all there are pro's here that do need to eat, even if it is at Micky Dee's Supper club.

You can post'em here or send them to my email: dabirdguy@yahoo.com

Honestly, I can draw! I'm just not so good at drawing on a computer.
Have a look at my website if you need proof (www.marcnischan.com).

Anyway, I thought tis would be a cool idea: part Mr. Horsepower, part vulture. And the text would be cooler as well. May be in an Old English type font. I'm not at my studio right now, so I'm at a disadvantage. Use your imagination to fill in the blanks. :)

Could spend more time on it if you like this one. Needs a little tweaking.

I had some fun doodling on a piece of s**** paper while on the phone at work today, and figured I'd share it with you before I went the whole hog and actually made a nice illustration out of it.
I'd still keep it cartoony, but refine the lettering and design to make a simple contrast which would look *****in in raised aluminum plate.
It's something a little away from the norm - and that's always a good thing - and please keep in mind this is a minute doodle, not an acuurate representation of my skilz.:D

This same subject was hashed over a few years ago. Most decent car club names have already been used time and time again.

    Take for example-

My friend Weldon was in a club called the Rumblers in 1955 , this club is no relation to the present day Rumblers. Did the old guys ( old is used as a term of respect here ) have a problem with the current day Rumblers using that name? No. Since aren't we all suppose to be in this for the same reason?

    Another point -

If I remember right from reading KiwiKev's thread on the history of the Scrounger's AK , they are just ten years old or so themselves. A cool name like the Scroungers, I'm sure it was used before ten years ago. Hell, I know it's being used right now by more then the two clubs already mentioned. What's the harm or foul, unless one of these clubs does something to cast a bad light on the hot rod and kustom scene? Aren't we all in this for the same reason?

Here's the other Busch take on the logo. I was trying to go for an Eddie Munster / Vault Keeper kind of feel, lol!

Dunno why you don't just use this one ...

And John B, there is a bit of a difference between (re) using an old club name that is long gone and using one that is currently active.

I guess I should have made it clear that the Rumblers of Cincinnati are still in existence.

I'm with you Simon, many is the time we have seen US clubs getting pissed at anyone else using their name, hell I have seen some real cool club names that I would have thaught about using myself but haven't or have at least talked to the folks using the name to see if they were open to somone else using the name......

Well, maybe if the two clubs ever cross paths, they can rumble for the name...

Primitive peoples would name aloud the prey they sought on a hunt, believing that naming it would give them power over it. Here I thought we'd moved past that, to civilization. Oh well.

Back on point...I like all the drawings so far, but my faves so far are 4t64trd (love the lettering), Gigantor (I think it's obvious why I like this one), chadilac (looks smooth) and buschandbusch's first one (funny & illustrative). Good luck picking a winner!

  22. Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery?

But I'm SURE the new club must have talked to the kiwis, yeah?

I mean, if someone just saw the Scroungers name and figured "that looks cool, we'll use that".....well, that's just f#cked. And if they didn't see it, well Google is just an "on" ****on away.

Maybe the US guys conveniently forget about threads here concerning another club starting to use their name?

FFS, even I can think of a dozen names that nobody would have ever used and I'm not all that creative!

FWIW, what was wrong with the old club name? Someone else already using that too?

Just so everyone is SPARKLEY Clear on how we ended up choosing the name Scroungers....
    1. EVERY SINGLE name we came up with had large numbers of hits on google.
    2. We did NOT go thru a listing of club names and say OOOhhh that's a pretty one. We went thru all the lists we could find and went AW **** every time we found a match.
    3. Because MOST of our events so far have been junkyard crawls and most of us are building cars and looking for parts, names like Scroungers, Scavangers, etc. came to mind.
    4. Scroungers was BY FAR the least used of the names we looked up.
    5. IF THERE WAS to be any grief, we expected it from the New York club or Minnesota clubs. We did not expect any grief from a club half the world away.
    6. We debated and chatted MANY hours/days and even weeks in the process. We held SEVERAL polls and votes trying to get it right.

As an exercise...sit down and come up with oooo..... say 10 Decent sounding club names off the top of your head that you think MIGHT be original and THEN go check the net to see how many clubs have used that name or a variation thereof. Guys I'm telling ya....coming up with a club name is HARD. Coming up with something ORIGINAL, DESCRIPTIVE and UNUSED is IMPOSSIBLE.

REMEMBER, guys been doing Hotrod car clubs for over 60 years now. Don't ya think that by now most everything cool has been used AT LEAST once?

    dabirdguy,

I would use 4t64rd drawing for the car club plaque, looks very clean. I would use stickyliflers vulture with 4t64rds lettering for one bad *** jacket. Pay them each fifty dollars for the work.

Would you want to be the Cin Day Rodders CC. no ,I didn't either. give it a break guys. we didn't want to step on anyones toes and if we hurt their feeling well next show we are at I'll buy em a beer and they can get over it. I emailed Kev after he made a remark about it and thought he would email back but he didn't . so I guess you guys care more than he does. thing is we worked our ****s off trying to pick our name and treid not to get something that someone had. if the guys are upset about it tell them to send their hate mail to the other Scroungers car clubs that are in the U.S.as well as us. we are keeping the name and will display it proudly! this thread is about artwork and if someone wants to talk about something other than that PM me I'll give you my # or email and we will talk. but stop the crybaby stuff already.
