I've been searching threads to see if there has been any new "classes" created for the HAMB Drags for 2007. FED, altered, etc.. I see lots of discussion, but no conclusions..I REALLY want to build something.. Just waiting for a direction!
HAMB Drags has no class. Seriously, the awards aren't even necessarily given to the fastest car in the "class". They are more just to group cars that are more likely to be more evenly matched. Build a car and bring it to the track. You will find cars to beat, cars to run almost even all the way down the track, and cars that will eat your lunch. And you'll meet a bunch of folks and have a blast doing it. Real classes are for the guys/gals racing for $$$.
Directions: (simplified) Get off ass, go to garage, see what you've got laying around. Build frame, engine, attach tranny, poke it in "car" (or close representation), dial it in and the chassis, drive it around the blok to see if it all works together. Choose August 25 as a vacation day (add a day or two for driving time)...gas up "car", pack clothes and bring beer money. Drive to Ramada Inn in Joplin , MO...and pump yourself up on the drive...get ready for good time. Drink beer, race, laff, pal around, meet new guys...stay overnite...go home. R-
And if you come just to race, your going to miss a bunch of fun. If your coming just to win, stay home. And to add to what studedude said, the party starts on Thursday afternoon and ends sometime Sunday morning, a few extra days off isn't a bad idea if you can do it. The HAMB Drags is one of those places where drinking isn't necessary to have a blast. The HAMB Drags has to be experenced to be understood. Once experenced, you will be hooked for life. Gene
Yup, if it aint to fast, but you need a helmet. I come to race, not to win. If you need to win, race someplace else. This weekend is the most fun there is.

Chuck, I'll drive the car out there for you and let you know how it does. I promise not to break anything............that you can't fix.
O.K. Is a BBC in a Topolino acceptable? I know technically the BBC is post 1964, but it is already running..
That is a fact. The HAMB drags is not about top eliminator its all about friends and fun. Some of the fellas ( actually most) only see each other once a year @ Joplin. You'll find that in general no one cares who won or who didn't or even who ran what ET. But everyone will know who you are when all is said and done. Is the Topy post '64? Just bring the damned thing and make every one gasp ( or not).
