Sunday, we put togather a Florida West Coast HAMB Meet & Greet party, hosted by our own HAMB'r "Ted Kempgens" at his HUGE plot of earth in Darby Florida. We had 12 HAMB's show up at 10AM, of which one was our Florida bound "SoberTOOLman" moving here from Boston. I was 4 miles from Ted's when I got a call from him saying " I just p***ed the Highway 50 exit, give me directions"! He had been traveling 2 days with his moving truck and trailer, living on Mountain Dew and Jolt. He had been in blizzards, had his moving truck and trailer side-swipped by a semi, ran off the road, ....and still made it here in time to have a blast with the guys.
My hats off to ya Brian, your a great guy!

Ted has a really big spread in the country, with a huge 5,000 square foot shop, a seperate paint booth, an a upholstery shop, a full ch***is fabrication shop and tons of cool projects. When he annouced "FREE DONUTS" ....the group quickley made the dash inside the shop, so we could enhance our man-ly figures :) .

We got the major tour of the entire facility, and the stories that go with each project that is underway. One of the lastest additions was a 'Pullmax' metal shaping machine, of which Ted let several of the guys have a hand at, and that was so cool of him.....Ted is a RULER !:D

Those of us that had cars finished to drive, parked by his old Gas station garage for a photo shoot. This building is the 'paint booth' :)

Here you can get a look at poor-old-Brian aka"SoberToolMan" as he exits the beat-up Moving truck after 2 days and 1 night of no sleep and travel.
All I know is that I'm 30 years older than him, I could not do what he did any more.
He was really pumped and excited to finally be here, no matter all of the trials that he had encountered in the trip!

Here is our host's 'Gennie' 1930 Model 'A' Roadster :)

What a beautiful, original ....right down to the seat material, roadster.

All of the under-carriage is as mint as the top.....it's not very often you get to see a real, unmolested, original anymore.

I'll let Ted fill you guys in on the details, ........ Ted ?

    Check it out !

Yeah brother...that was a lot of fun. Ted had a ton of stuff to see and great stories too. The main thing was we're finally starting to see some like-minded guys coming out to play. I didn't hear one gold chain rattling all day. :D
Great pictures there, Roscoe! Thanks for posting them up. And the rest of you Florida hot rodders, come on out. We're having a ball. Join us for the Saturday "hot rod breakfast", the Thursday night "cruise", or our new favorite place, Teds. :) Mike

Hey guys enjoyed a great day. Theres a true bond with the real car guys, and it showed Sunday. What more could one ask for when a group like this gets together. Looking foward to doing it again. Little history to go with some of the pictures. 30 Model A roadster has been in my family since 1963, Was bought from a collection in Tenn for my mom, It was her show car and trailer queen for a few years, Original 1930 interior and top one repaint in1970. Showing its age now but still a sweetheart. 1969 Dodge car hauler was Richard Petty's Factory car hauler, Huge project someday. again enjoyed the day see ya Thursday Ted

Everyone had a blast,..... are you working on the Chevy II today ? :)

  24. Here's something that's a little new for the HAMB, It's a 39 year old, 3,600 mile survivor from Dayton, OH. '68 428 tunnelport. The flip front was spashed without even taking the tapestripes off and an inpression of them are in the front fenders, along with the corrugated pattern in the cardboard they used to block the grill opening.

Opens with Windows Media or Real Player
