Congrats on making the trip in one piece. Now I can tear my car down and ride around in yours for a while. [IMG]

    Magnet,

You just frickin rock! I swear you've got the best damn attitude ever.

    Sandman,

As usual had a blast hangin with you and your lovely wife. Can we do it again next weekend? Not sure how you've lived here for 6 months and know more people than I do, but I'll just accept it.

    Nailhead 60,

Your just plain cool. It was great to get to know you a little better.

    Hank Cash,

    Great to finally meet you.

If you look close at the drivers side front you can see a bolt holding the shackle for the 1/4 elliptic ... mounted upside down. So hitting a bump puts the spring in stretch rather than compression [IMG] Seems like an interesting reversal of physics [IMG] I suspect the rear end is mounted the same way.

    Just a guess ....

    Crease,
You talked far too much trash to tear it down and up-grade for the drags. I think that car just feels fast w/o a windsheild and being so low to the ground.

    Ryan,
Your photos are art. I generally don't say that about photography, but you do have a knack for capturing the essence of a hot rod and finding the details that most would miss.

  4. That is HUGE coming from AntiC! Personally...I respect the hell outta anyone that takes a pic that's in focus, doesn't have flash spots, and isn't at a screwy angel just to avoid the previous 2 things I mentioned.

Anyone can be an "artist" with a macro lense. I'm not an artist... I just have a nice camera. I took lots of shots with the macro just cause that's how I look at cars after awhile... scanning for details and what not... Course now I'm sitting here wondering where all my shots of the full car are. Quite frustrating really...

Reggie, you have no idea how much you made me smile on Saturday. I've driven some pretty insane cars in my life... some real insane cars... I think that 3 or so miles to the park and back might have been some of my favorite miles ever...

I had a blast at this years Roundup, not suprising really. Sorry I didn't get to meet you Ryan, I'm sure I walked past you a couple of times, just never realized it was you.

Glad to have met everyone I did have a chance to and finally put some faces to some HAMB names.

Magnet- hope you aren't completely fried from our scorching 80 degree weather [IMG]

Bobbleed- I kick myself for not getting a CD while I had the chance, but my wallet was running on empty at the time. Send me a PM if I can order one from you.

Ryan I can't beleive thats just a nice camera makeing those look so great. The eye that looks through it is what makes a great shot.

Foiled, I also got a little flack comeing into the park with my car. It was actually a guy before the gate.I showed him my registration and told him I had already been cleared by the Kontinentals for attending. He was still trying to be a hard ass and then finally told me to take it up with the guy at the gate. That was the last word about it that I heard.

Hopefully that will be my last Roundup in the wagon and I am trying to set a goal to have the 30 down there next year.

Those mid '60's chevy trucks made it in, even the one with the 20" wheels. Made me think my car could have gotten in, but I knew it would be out of place even if I did have a pass...there are exceptions to every rule but that truck??? Some of the street rods (t-bucket that wouldn't start that the guy was trying to hock) I definately wouldn't have missed. There was better quality control last year, but there were more cars this year...guess it's a tradeoff.

    Ryan-

It was nice to meet you...
I know what you are saying about all of the close shots and not too many of full cars....
I think that has alot to do with how close together everyone was parked.
    I had a great time!
When the Round-up is over, it's like going back to 3rd grade after Spring break, AND IT SUCKS!

Sorry about that guys, with the size this thing has gotten we had to hire some non-Kontinental event staff to work the outer gate, that did not know about the VIP execptions.
All these guys knew was pre 1963 and we forgot to tell them Phils wagon is always a welcome adition.

We try our best to be as inclusive as possible and yes there were some F%$kin' murdered mercs, dicusting T buckets, and WTF wheels. We might need to get alittle more selective in the future but we just want to have fun.

We only had one total ass hole all weekend, guy with a 57 chevy restro (go figure that one [IMG]) got all bent outta place about where he had to park. Dude about got put down by Reggie. He's not invited back.

i didnt have a pass for the continental club friday night but figured i might be able to have a beer and bail. the guy at the door was pretty damn nice and told me that there was a certain amount sold and if it wasnt filled to capacity, i could come back... he didnt have to explain anything, he could have just told me to get lost.

gotta admit, i didnt know what to say but thanks... im use to doormen being pricks. this guy was cool about it, and was even smiling.

made it back alive, not much worse for the wear...

met some great people and new friends, and some old. one of the best times i've had at a show.

sent my bike home with its new owner, 38Chevy454 (terry), to terrorize the west coast, and brought home a new project, terry's supercharged 63 riviera that used to be stoners...this is gonna be a fun project!

gotta say big ups to Bud's Bike shop, not too far from the happenings, El Jefe' sent me there to look for parts to diagnose a no start problem after the trip down, they were nice enough to let me try out a new coil aganst my old one, and would accept no money when i bought nothing even as i insisted for the bother, thanks!

and thanks terry for letting a bunch of US share your room!

plan9...i got yo pics, none i can share of the primer 3 winder on the hamb, ryan is in all of em! haha BUT i DO got them ORCA pics! i'm counting them, and they better ALL be posted! [IMG]

big thanks to brewsir too, for hauling me down to a local cheapie tire shop early sunday morning to get a new tire, i owe ya one!

and it sure SUCKED trying to get out of the area of the club sunday morning towards the north, damn marathon or whatever going on.

met lots more people than i can remember names, some i never caught names of...

Hey Krupanut, I was'nt sweating it about getting in. I knew the guy just did'nt know. I just thought I'd tell my story so Foiled would'nt think he was singeled out and getting picked on.

I do hope to be in the other car next year though.

As an accepting type person, I like to remember that most folks are cool in their own group, but those fools just made the good looking cars look better.

Got home last night (Late!) It was a pleasure to meet so many HAMBers and even got to meet Ryan for the first time. Show was great. Want to thank everybody for the hospitality. And yes, it was a long drive in Little D's truck, but nothing compared to John Beaty's T-roadster. Here are some pics from the trip home

    California/Arizona Border last night...

  26. Wow, great pics and I'm still in recovery. 1720 miles in 2 days. I think I may be the luckiest HAMB'er right now as I now have a bitchin Triumph that needs nothing and traded Ray a car that needs work. I may not have had one of my hot rods at the show, but Austin was a great place to meet up and trade. Next year I'll have one of my cars for sure. This was my third year and the Kontinentals pulled off another great show, my compliments on a job well done. You guys work hard to put on a show that is worth driving 1720 miles to get to.

Thanks to plan9, Ray and Brewsir for the great weekend hanging out with you guys. Especially plan9 who I talked into going last minute and helped me with driving. Next year we'll road trip again.

I cannot believe that the bike was for sale. I stood around it all Friday night waiting to meet Ray. It's one of, if not the, coolest bikes I've ever seen. I kidded with my wife that I was waiting around to buy it.

Thanks for making the huge journey back to Texas. Bring your truck next year so you can haul the bike with you.

haha, i thought i was the luckiest guy in the whole world! c'mon terry, don't say that bike don't need nothin! its still got some detail stuff to work out, i know, i'm prolly my worst critic.

buzzard, thanks for the nice words on the bike, it hadn't exactly been for sale, i built it for myself the way i wanted, if i was ever to sell it, it was supposed to get some decent money...but i had been lusting after this riviera since stoner had it. and now its mine mwahahaha! actually a good trade for both parties involved, i think all things considered.

you guys make it hard to stay humble!
