We have been busting our balls getting this f*cker done in time for the show. Big Al did some striping on it (see this thread http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163447&highlight=tina's+chevy) When we got it back from Rodney of Rodney's Rods and Customs (Abone312) it was pretty much just a shell. He frenched the headlights, dechromed it, swapped tail lights, removed door handles and other useless crap, swapped the grill, did minor rust repair and sprayed it in flake and flat blue pearl. In 5 weeks we: wired the car, got all the drivetrain worked out (motor, trans, driveshaft, shifter, rearend), suspension, 4 way brakes, fuel, seats, carpet, glass, wheels and tires and the list goes on and on. I am surprised we pulled it off in time and I'm the happiest girl in Houston! Check out the pics: It was overcast when i took these pics outside my work so you dont get the full effect of the pearl and the flake. It's 60's stylie baby! b mcnasty
How are you actuating the doors? Did you dump the stock latches for bear claws or anything? Looks super (oops)! REAL clean is good in my book! EDIT: I mean wonder woman!
Stock latches. Also, we didnt use door actuators/poppers or anything. I use the old 'stick my hand in the vent window' trick. I'm so technologically advanced. hahah. Thanks! Tina
Are those 49 Buick taillights with part of the bezel cut off? If so, That's EXACTLY what I was planning for my Fleetline. You stole my brain waves! Looks good!
The car looks GREAT ! Love the Flaked Roof and colour combination, as well as the wheel and tire package.
Cool I just saw it where you work... i was cruisin by going back to the office and it caught my eye... you took those pics today?... it looks Good!
I remember thrashing to get another '52 chevy sedan with fresh paint and supreme's ready for the roundup. That car looks great!
i wish my ride was going but i've only had it a week. it's running but no brake lights or turn signals. anyways, sweet ride. very very nice. i'm looking forward to seeing it this weekend.
I saw the car you are talking about. It was a blue suede torpedo back, chopped with 56 packard taillites. It just drove through at the end. Hell of a good looking car. TP
bettie, bettie shes so fine, listen to that hiway whine, you will be the belle of the ball at the round up. Great job of bustin to get all that chit done in such a short time, obviously a rightous crew on this fine ass build. I love everything about it, real tasty. Those dodge tails look factory fresh. Congrats on the super build, hoist one for me at the big show. Makes me proud to see female participation. Hoist one for me!-Sololobo
Well, Bettie may not have stolen your brain waves, Slide, but I thought the same thing you did when I saw hers. I've had '49 Buick taillights sitting here in my garage for about 10 years with that same tag cut off the ring waiting to go on my Fleetline....so I guess there will be at least two of us with them one day! Cool car, BTW, Bettie!!!
