  2. I watched the movie, it was very cool! I didn't see one clear image of that trailer. Nothing you could use to copy it anyway. Here's another pic, it's from the cover of the 1961 HOT ROD annual.............

I used a magazine article I had about their 4 wheel trailers to build my first car trailer. No, I don't still have it, probably wore it out in the garage. Must have been in a mid '60s mag. What I remember is they were built from @ 3 inch round stock, the article said pipe if I remember right (I built mine from rectangular tubing). 4 rails with plate between them to make tracks for the front wheels with a wider area of plate where the slicks ride. I've looked for a picture of an original also but came up empty.

  4. These no doubt have already been posted but here's some I snagged from an old magazine article. Some of the 6 cylinder car they campaigned in '63 and a coupls of others.
    enjoy

Great save, looks like it's in a great place now. Could you post some photos of the Blown Chrysler car? Anybody else see the guy @ the Turlock Swapmeet this year who is building these cars? I think he said he was out of Modesto CA, can't find the damn card!

Well eight months after I said that, wed nite I went and got it. Another dragster for me. I plan on just mocking it up as a roller. I have a few extra parts to make it look complete. Like a small chevy , moon tank , parachute, and log intake. And end up copying it in a year or so. This car is kind of long (for a Dragmaster) about 124".

The Dirty's need some of your luck, and I even wear your shirt. Good find.

  19. I wish there were repopped maybe in chomoly. Would have saved a lot of work for me. I always thought they were a real good looking dragster.I like the short ones. Be nice to buy a pro built chassis that could be odered for what ever six cylinder you wanted. I wonder what it would cost to have built by a pro builder and i wonder does anyone still have the drawings. Mine is almost done but is my own design and i am much more into engies that chassis so it has been a chore to build and despite my best efforts it isnt as nice as those Old Dragmaster chassis.

  20. this thread is viagra...

same as previously listed, did anyone have some more specs on these chassis's, drawings?, common build lists? how wide/tall is the basic chassis commonly?

    Would love to build/race one....

    BTTT

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:D

  21. I second the request for blue prints or someone building new frames. I was trying to sell my 40 merc in the hamb classifieds to buy a slingshot that I have known about for a long time but the merc did not sell so it will sit until I can come up with the money to get it or will try and trade the merc for another frame or roller is someone out there knows of one. This is a great thread with alot of info.

I didn't have a chance to read through the entire 5 pages of posts yet, but I have a question for you guys...does anyone have any information on this car called the "Southwind" piloted by "Sneaky" Pete Robinson to the '61 Top Eliminator honors? I'm recreating the car from scratch and am looking for parts, information and stories about Pete himself or the car and its possible whereabouts... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Thanks guys, and if you know anything or have parts I may need that you recognize on the car PM me or e-mail me at standard_speedshop@yahoo.com or call 651-387-9480, thanks again for any help...

My brother in law bought an old dragster frame out of a guys back yard last year for 50 bucks. He always wondered what the history of it was. One day while I was at Jim Morris' house getting pics of a drag truck that I have posted here, I noticed a photo of a dragster much like the one he bought. Well low and behold it was it. Quite another cool find. Notice how it was built with model A rails.
Since then my BIL has found out most of the history of the dragster. Maybe if I can find more photos I will start a thread about it.

Is the scan from Dec. 61 HRM yours ? If not, I have that issue and can scan the rest of the article if you like.

  28. got any contact info for them? And where did you get those photos?

  29. Here are a couple of shots from when I was the flagger at the Golden Triangle drag strip in Florida. Sneaky Pete went through there also with a Dragmaster chassis. The year was 1959 or 60.
