    Mac,

We think alike. Here the picture of one i plan on building for my Hambster. Pic from one of the magazines. I like it because i have built a couple of these over the years just like this one. Used steel pipe construction with welded spindles hubs etc. No springs etc. Really low to ground.[IMG]

  14. Looking at the photos posted above, its interesting to see how as the 60's rolled on, trailers went from cobbled together junk to some pretty professional looking rigs.

I flat towed the first drag car I had. Lots of guys used tow bars and "tow hubs".
I later bought a used trailer, it had homemade drop axels welded to the frame. No ramps, had a long tongue jack that was cable winch operated, jack up the front until the back was on the ground.
Go to a NHRA national today, and you wont find an open trailer anywhere.

I don't have pics but there were lots of trailer s around here made from Joyce brand auto lifts.some would just add a tongue and Rambler front spindles for rolling stock others would remove the tire rails from the I beam under structure which was qiute heave and use those with pipe understructure.Joyce lifts were the cable operated lifts you drive the tires on a lot like the garage buddies etc.Rambler/AMC front spindles seperate with 4 bolts so they were very commonly used here for All kinds of trailers or anything you wanted to be able to roll

  28. And note that the vast majority of those old trailers were "unsprung". Ours was unsprung and we used it to haul our cars thousands of miles with no problems,,,but hey, we didn't ride in them while being hauled eother...LOL
