I stopped by to see them on the way to Austin and got some good news for those who are trailering and worried about security. They are tearing out the tennis courts on the south side of the motel behind the old Taco Gringo building. This area will be used for truck and trailer parking and is adjacent to the south parking lot. There will also be parking in the taco gringo lot as the restaurant is closed. BB
I was looking the situation over the other night and I thought it might make more room for us. I do not know what is going to happen with the empty taco place. The land in that area is very developed and I suspect that someone will buy that location and build another fast food place there soon. John
this. . . is amazing news. last year was HELL in the lot. . . most guys were considerate with parking thier trailers and tow rigs, but a few took up almost 5 spaces parking sideways!
Looks like Gringo's parking lot is out. The Joplin paper said Starbucks has bought the Gringo's property, and hopes to be open in early summer. Wow, just what Joplin needs, another Starbucks.
What about that huge parking lot behind the Ramada, at Food-4-Less? Kinda down the hill. Maybe get a security guard for Fri/Sat nite? I know General Gow will be psyched for the Ramada's new neighbor LOL....
Am I the only one who is bummed out because Gringos is closed??? They were open till like 3am..not gonna be the same with out em. -Abone.
funny, Mama Fiddy said the same thing last year, and i KNOW that there were several HAMBers talking about hiring security for the lot already . . . i would think something can be arranged with the grocery store for trailer parking. if not, we can always park in the lobby
What about the hotel's designated trailer parking up front. Is that still available? I like to pull the car out Friday night but it doesn't work so well on public roads, especially when it's time to put it away after the cooler's been emptied.
I will try to stop by the Ramada in the next few days and look over the parking situation. When I do I will talk to the manager and see what they think. The motel must have a contract with some truck lines as we have had some problems with big trucks parking out front. John
when we got back in the rain last yr i had to park by the tennis court and someone stole everything out of the back of my pickup, cooler full to the brim, chairs gas jugs etc...
i just drove by and the new starbucks is under con. so looks like no parking there.we could always do the its better to ask for forgiveness then ask for permission deal!i live 10 mins. from the hotel on the way to mokan if anybody needs trailer parking at my house, just shoot me a pm.
Anything is better than MickyDs.............2 years ago Reggie, El Jefe and I walked into there and they said it would be an hour wait......wtf?
I checked the Ramada this afternoon. Everything is pretty much the same. It looks like they have been remodeling some of the rooms. The Starbucks is open and it looks like they have a lot more parking lot than they need. We might use some of their space on the back of the lot. The Ramada has not changed the area where their tennis courts are but they might do something before the drags. Next time I stop by, I might ask them to plan ahead with some extra trash cans out front for that weekend. John
There is a vacant car dealership about a block away. Some one could lookup the owner and get permission to park there???? A couple of campers taking shifts to watch the place might work???
