The car is awesome dude.I vote leave them on.

 

I was looking through some of my R&C mags and found this concept drawing from Jeff Norwell of a 39 coast to coast...

 

Blue!:

 

Leave em on, put a lot of clear on it, then wet sand the gloss. Looks great the way it is. Why mess with pure beauty?

 

i know paint is coming, Thomas, take 'em off....... look at that last pic by Janne... beautiful.

 

Those headers are perfect.....just enough to set it off from everything else.

Very original.

 

Sorry man when I look at that car I see Headers and then the car. Headers have a function and can look cool but they should not take over the landscape...Just my 2 cents

Those headers,are what set that ride apart,and make a unique statement.Build some hood sides that fit with the headers.

 

They are too Kool to take off. forget the paint leave the headers on.

 

They make the car what it is...don't touch em!

 

After spending a night with her, leave em' on... they make the car.

I remeber seeing that ride at Piston and paint couple years ago and i snapped a bunch of pics of it and i talked about ti it for a long time and still gets me evertime i see it and its the headers that really makes the car, but i can see after some time how you might want to change it. I felt the same way about BUTT REYNOLDS chevy when he re painted it. Good luck with what ever you decide

 

I agree. I love the car as it sits, satin paint, current color and all. I had an earlier shot of your car on my desktop at work for a while. I can't even begin to tell you how many people stopped as they were walking by to check it out. Everybody that saw it loved the car.

 

I like the idea of just an aft panel. Sick Ass car by the way.

 

Love it both looks...but personally i'd go hood side with something like buick portholes down each side of the hood, needs some agressive chrome....

being a 39 owner myself..i love the headers..but man if you goin with shiny paint..me personaly i would have to do away with them...they fit the primer great but paint is a differant story...either hotrod or custom...i vote custom...and then sell me the headers for my hotrod ...lol

 

Dude ! Stick to what you know, ....being a Badass . Leave the pipes. One of my favorite cars on here . I haven't ever seen pipes like that on that body style . Maybe I need to get out more , but , I say Leave em. swaZZie.

I vote leave them on. While it is a Low and smooth custom It gives your car just the right amount of hot rod attitude. I would not cut the hood sides or anything but remove the headers and install the hood sides and get them to fit etc, and paint those at the same time as the car so at least you would have them if you ever decide to change the look of the car.

 

Gloss black? Can't go wrong there!

 

I love those headers. I may be just a young punk, but I really liked the flat blue paint too. I say keep the headers.

I'd say I agree with those that said make some hood sides or half hood sides to go around them.

If you were painting the car, say, lime green, then taking them off might be better. But gloss black? It NEEDS the headers then.

 

i like em. if you get rid of them it'll blend into the crowd. they are kinda that car's trademark. i would'nt lose em for nothin.
