IF you sell it, sell it to your dad for a dollar. that way ya won't have to sell it when you get divorced... seriously, that's cheap insurance on the future right there....

    boy aint I a chearful m-f-er today....

interesting thread, I won't offer my opinion as you have heard from several sides of this. Think long and hard about all that has been said so far. I had to agree with a few of the opinions given already... good luck

Wow! Lots of different opinions on this one! I've been debating this for about 3 months now and still go back and forth. A few more things I should have said were I got out of the military a year ago, had to move in with my parents, she had to move back in with her parents about 6 months ago, we're both in College full time, I work part time and she works full time! And pretty much no money at all!! Ugh, man I'm a dirtbag!! Lol. I'd like to find a fat fendered car or somethin like that for around $10k and buy that right away so I DO have something to drive. But we'll see. Ok.....so paint it.......the seat is fixed.......the fuel tank is brand new so I'm not doin anything there and then $50k here we come!! Just playin.......

Put it on the bay.. Its either gonna go outta site or your not gonna get shit. Well you may get what you want but there is always room for more. Put a reserve on it cause you need the cash. Its gonna cost you some bux to list it but its worth a try.

A friend of mine just bought a real steel Ford 32 5 window like yours for $21K. i do not think you will get "BIG $$$" for your car unless you make it look a bit more finished so as to make it more appealing.

You just can't compair cars and a home. Dad & I built the one I'm in 28 years ago, and I remember every car and car part I sold to pay for it. Sitting inside a warm house in the dead of winter remembering the cars I used to have is not a bad deal.

Don't do it. I sold my '36 3 window when the kids came. Got a good price for it at the time. But now my son and I would love to find it. We had to settle a for '28 roadster.

If you sell it, both the car and the money will soon be gone forever.

  20. Don't do it for a big wedding or something that will only be a memory soon do it only if you need food. Most new married couples don't have shit when they start and they manage someway. I have 1968 Shelby mustang in my shop that has been kept in a divorce, college degree, two business failures, child birth, child support, and at times when i had to go to McDonalds just for the catchup. I now have a new wife, nice house with some land, 3000 sq/ft shop, and a 20 yr old son who will get a hell of a nice 1968 Shelby gt500kr that I could have sold for $15-20,000 back in 1987 (and put a good down payment on a house). Now If I sold it I should get $140-180,000 and buy can a house. A great long term investment like this is hard to find. So what I am saying is it is money in the bank. Think of it as a retirement account if you take the money out before it is due you have to pay a fee, ie loose money. The truth is there are fewer and fewer 32s needing to be restored/hot rodded if you want to do one in the future you will have to buy someones car that is done and take it apart to do it your way. So in todays money that would be buying a 80,000 car to do it they way yours was and making it a 40,000 car, and it still wont be your old car. Those cup a noodles come in a verity of flavors water from a faucet and day old bread and peanut butter can take you a long way and you still have money in the bank aka 32 Ford or in my case 68 shelby. Useless

I am in the same boat, well.. i recently was. Last Oct i got married and it was a finacial nightmare. Although not as cool as your 32 they ment alot to me. My 57 chev pick, the 61 willys dad gave me (got me into wrenchin) and a 70 FJ40 that was my beater 4x4. i apted to sell the FJ since i wasnt attached to it and wasnt good for a daily driver.

DONT sell anything for your wedding!!!!!!! i had a kick ass wedding that cost .. . well it ws expensive, (kegs) but was awesome. we had a pot luck and kegs the night before and game day had it in a small town church and reception in a town hall. Im sure you know, but the second your bride says "yes" there is a million people trying to rip you off....

we were trying to buy a house off the bat and decided to wait, we are triying to have a baby and the bottome line is, you can have a baby in an apt. it wont be an issue for a few years, meanwhile im working overtime.

Keep the coupe! say you have a son. take him to games, he will think his dad is the coolest, youll get him into the worlds greatest hobby, say you have a daughter. come high school the future boyfriends will think your some bad ass and hopefully behave with your girl! and maybe she will get into the hobby.

money is money, unless you cant feed your family dont sell it. garage it, tarp it, what ever. vintage tin, in my opinion, is worth keeping at all costs. my dad willed me his old 61 willys jeep. Id never sell it. thats what its about. your kid will have memorys of that more than some starter house....

    my $.02

Dont sell for the wedding but sell to buy a house. Take whatever you get for it and buy a home. Its the best INVESTMENT you can make for your family's future. If you are worried about a bond with a son, start collecting parts and over the next 18 years build a car with and for him. That will mean more to him than a coupe you onced owned before he was around. As for selling it - eGay with a healthy reserve, preferably after a tidy up as suggested.

You can probably sell it to YOURSELF ( or your wife or a friend or relative with decent credit) and get financing on it ........ that way you have the car, the money you need and only have to make a monthly payment ......... PM me for details.... ( I work at a major collector car lot here in jersey and we get financing for stuff ALL the time ..... I don't think, however, your car will be in the 40K range as far as value tho'....so just finance the amount YOU NEED).

It's easy to understand all these "don't sell" aswers but to be honest, I'd sell it. Cars come and go, if they bring you big money that's always positive. You may not own another Deuce ever again, but so what. That was your decision in current life situation so don't think that later, "what if...." That's just stupid. You can easily find a good full-fendered car or a sixties lowrider or what so ever whenever you want to. This is just a car, but this car will bring you a big money and you said you need the money right now. So that's the answer imo. You other guys, please don't take me wrong, I love 32's, they are just out of my price range. And so I'm happy with my Model A's, 41-Pontiac, 48-Anglia..... --mika

  27. I did this almost the same thing 21 yrs. ago.....wedding planned, baby on the way and wanted a house so bad we could taste it.....pulled all my family together, including hers and worked out a solution that we would get married in front of a JP (cost me $25) and buy a more affordable house instead of a mortgage that would ruin us and as for my son on the way, my family and friends gave us one hell of a baby shower since the big wedding was canceled......kids don't cost anymore money then a loving pet anyway.....DO NOT SELL IT...I still have my 5 window cp.....and I have it willed to my son...he wants it for all the great memories we made over the years........hold on to it...you got to fight for what you want in life..........John

All you guys saying to keep it 'cause it's an 'investment' are no different than all those B-J guys.......

Investment:–noun 1. the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.

Sounds like 'lilduce needs the $$$ soon......not 20yrs down the road...

Kevin...Don't sell your car. I have found that life is all about being in debt...haha...so get a loan for the house, do a small cheap wedding and when the baby comes (congrats by the way) have a HUGE shower and charge admission, then you will still have your car (which is payed off) and you can just use the money you make to feed/cloth the little guy/girl.....Think of all the memories that include your dad and the car with yourself...Now you can make some of your own with your kid and that car, that alone should be "priceless"....-Dustin
