I just had a guy offer me a '53 Plymouth 2 door wagon this morning. I dunno what he's wanting for it, but I'd bet it isn't too expensive. He had a ROUGH Hudson pickup he wanted something like $400 bucks for it awhile back. He's about 15 miles East of Tulsa, but you'd have to haul it back to your place. I'd also consider - as I've told you before - seeing if I could work something out with a relay to get it to you. You could always purchase something, and then work it out to see if someone will haul for you. Just like I'm heading to the Northeast corner of Missouri this weekend with an empty car trailer. If you were that direction, it'd at least get the car 300 miles closer to you.

Crackernutz.... Just realized you are in Lubbock. Flattopbob is in Wellington, about 150 miles from you. That's Owens Salvage yard. He has a spotless reputation for being a square dealer. Can't believe he doesn't have something you'd like. Might PM him and tell him generally what you want. At least you'd know you weren't being ripped off, and you'd have Texas Title, etc.

I bought my 54 chevy 210 through an outdated craigslist ad in L.A. only cost me 2,300 and it was complete but not running. Took two weeks to get it moving under its own power. Try to buy a car thats complete even if it not running its easier to fix stuff that's present instead of spending all of your time tracking down parts. You can stretch your money further that way too. Thats my .02
Owens Salvage. I'm no expert on this, just passing along what I heard. It was brought up in a thread somewhere and about half the hamb jumped in to say he was a square dealer, good prices, etc. Not one gripe, that's amazing. I've called a few times, but my 41 pontiac is a rare bird and he hasn't had what I needed. But always helpful and willing to look for anything. I got the impression they deal mostly in the old stuff. I have no idea if he has cars for sale, but I've never seen a decent yard that didn't have some drivers - projects - etc. separated from the parts cars. If you are looking at buying something, might pay to give him a call and see whats available for that make, model, etc. He may be able to tellyou what can't be found also. I'm going to work out a field trip one these days, just to go there.
I've found several cars following this advice: You'll find exactly what you're looking for when you either least expect it, or can least afford it. There is no in-between unless you're a millionaire. My dad told me the part about when I was least expecting it, a week later I found my first car. The second part came with age.
Another place to look would be local impound auctions. You know those cars that are sitting on the side of the road with an orange tag on them? Once they get those tags, the owners are supposed to have 24 hours to remove them or they'll be towed and impounded - the car, not the owner! Once they go into the impound yard, often they are abandoned, and then auctioned off to attempt to cover the fees. I deal with a company here in Tulsa that does this, and you can usually find a decent car for around $200-500. Of course, it is additonal if you want a title for it, but that usually entails an up front $25 fee and then later on the costs of registering the vehicle. But, if you're going to scrap it anyway, who cares? I once bought an '87 Ford Escort for $30 once! Spent $200 on registration and title transfers, $60 on tires, and a freebie distributor (the car didn't have one in it, and that was the only problem!) and drove the wheels off of it until my wife's brother and his boyfriend (don't ask) decided they didn't look good in it and traded it off. Beauty thing is, *I* reposessed the car for the hometown banker who's a buddy of mine when he didn't make payments. Ain't karma a bitch?
