They said at the awards/giveaway ceremony that 1700 showed up. I don't know if that was how many that stayed through sunday or what. On an awesome note: I won a "door prize pack" which included a 7" booster and master cylinder, a shop vac and a set of 4 car dollies. That was worth my $25 entry.
A slipping clutch, which Friday night I looked into and found out the clutch fork was hanging and not releasing the bearing. The bearing had been spinning on the clutch for the whole trip to Austin to the Roundup and back. I am lucky to have made it home. Also found out that the clutch arm is too long and the pivot ball was too shallow. So Saturday night the floor was removed, the******* pulled, different clutch fork was installed as well as ne pivot ball. If it was the Rounup I would have stayed up all night in the pouring sleet and snow and tornadoes and hurricanes but for a NSRA meet I dont think so. I got my fingers crossed that it is gonna work now though in tome for the MAy drags in temple.
well, another year without attending the nsra sw nats. this time due to a new house, among other things. at least I was under a dry roof. hey, anybody know when the 39th st Coit's cruise-in starts back up? HAMB'ers oughta unite out there. good little hangout thru the summer. I don't have a ride, but would love to visit and live vicariously thru others rods.
Had a good run there and back. Saturday was mostly spent indoors buying parts and visiting with everyone. Sunday weather was perfect and the run home was great. We all stopped at Hooleys and looked at his new Henry J gasser that I am to paint soon. Bad weather at a car event is better than nice weather on a day at work. John
I guess it's always fun to come home with a free bag of ill booten gotty. Congrats Chev. WZ I guess Hooley has to have something to keep him entertained during that long strech between bonzai's on the salt. What color/s is it gonna be. Speaking of Studes....has the ice damage been repaired yet?
It turned out to be a pretty good weekend. I met bradslowmodela's crew Saturday. They cooked some of the best steak I have ever had and provided some good laughs. Thanks again for the leftover steak. Also met 38Chev. Maybe I'll see you around this summer.
I caught the tail-end of a story on the local news, but it seems another street rod got stolen out of a hotel parking lot. Seems like at least one disappears every year. Last year I think it was both a COE car hauler and the car it was hauling.
I haven't heard about that, but I haven't been home enough during the news times. I know last year a car, the enclosed trailer it was in, and the truck pulling it was stolen from their hotel early one morning. It's sad that people have to do these things.
