A few weeks ago I wrote about Avenue Barber Shop and its old world vibe... Afterwards, a few of us Austinites got to...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Might have to check it out. Since I've been shaving my head for the past 4 years, I've never had it professionally done.
That's a bit of a drive for a trim but that looks like a cool place.. they've all but disappeared around here, mostly just chain choppers now.... the last visit I told the 'technician' no whitewalls and she didn't have a clue what I was talking about.... CC
Flat top skunk stripe 1's on the sides squared. a real barber can decipher the code; stylists start to shake.
We're very fortunate to have two good shops in the Dallas area. 1. Rob's Chop Shop in Dallas 2. Big Mark's Barbersville Garage in Bedford. Both are very old school shops with a great vibe, both are serious car guys and both sell some kick arse house brand pomade. I'll have to check out Avenue next time I'm down in Austin.
i think i need some of these codes deciphered myself? Flat top skunk stripe 1's on the sides squared. no whitewalls? please explain to a guy that wears a ballcap 24/7
My Big Kev flat top (#2 on the sides), needs re-doing, but 1200 miles is a little far. I tend to get haircuts when I travel, Anybody know a good barber in Iowa City?
Damn, he came thru SLC awhile back looking to either open here or Reno he said, guess he didnt choose SLC, which sucks because we need a good real barber.
the place to go to in paso is 13th st. barbershop. the mans name is david. thats who i sold my 54 to. great guy.
I would just about drive ten hours for a haircut, to find somebody that understood what I wanted. Hey Cheddar I drove past the cheese plant yesterday.
There's one in Costa Mesa/Newport Beach, called "Hawleywoods". It's as old school as you can get. Great guys, and they are young and into old cars too!
My car and my hair are right out of the '60s, man... Nobody has been near me with a scissors in 5 years, unless they were trying to stab me with it. JOE
Anyone know if there is a similar place around Mid NJ/NYC/Brooklyn? I had a place when I lived in East Lansing, MI. Three generations of barbers in one shop, the same one the eldest started way back when. I havnt been able to find anything close to that around here.
i use his pomade called layrite. only shit that will wash out and holds better than anything... and yes, i do have a pomp so everyone can make fun of me now...
I don't mean to 'split hairs' but... isn't this a bit O.T.? Just kidding. I make a joke... I do this 'cause I have no hair and all you Rockabilly types make me so dang envious. It's a good thing I'm O.K. with who I am or I might be jealous too.
