Trying to go to DMV and get this thing on paper and Non-Oped... where is the VIN# on a 55 1/2 ton truck? Yes... this is the death truck... Travis
Well it looks like I am **** outta luck on that. Im going to have to go to DMV with a truck with no VIN tag on it... Travis
Yeah, should be on the front side of drivers door jamb, a shiney metal tag. Look for sings of rivets. Rodshop
I dont think the 55s were riveted in. Do you have any kind of papers for the truck? Lots of times you can get away with a "VIN" number tag made at a trophy shop or just registering the motor number. at least in TX.
I got one off a 56 panel truck and it was riveted to the inside of the A-pillar on the driver's side...I don't have it anymore but I think Danchuk and/or Chevs of the 40's usta sell blanks...stamp your numbers and pop rivet thet ****er in place...
Use one outta a similar year car. Do tou HAVE to get it inspected? Just take the paper work in and they should belive you, are you going to the one off Harding or are you gonna go up to the Folsom one(they are rather "lax" up there). -Jesse
Look for it stamped on the top of the frame rail under the hood. My '66 has it on the left side. Depending on the year you'll find a tag in the driver's door jamb on the windhield piller, or the top of the jamb. Look on the p***enger side too.
CA CHP/DMV won't go by the door tag anyway. They want the frame number which is on top of the drivers side frame rail right above the front axle. Unless it's got a M-II front end welded on top of it or it's Camaro clipped. then you're SOL and will have to get a number ***igned. They can do that to. Just take a wire brush to the crud on top of the frame, you'll find it
YAY!!! I found it. I will post a new topic on why I am doing this. But I actually found it on the frame above the axle and it's a 57! Thanks guys... Travis
The serial numbers on frame are same as cab VIN numbers. Two spots on drivers side top of frame near steering box and right below cab
