Could anyone tell me what the differences are between the original version and the revised edition of the Bishop/Tardel book How to Build a Traditional Ford Hot Rod? I own the revised edition at 160 pages and I have the chance of the original version at 200 odd pages. Whats in them 40 extra pages?
I'm no expert but I do know that the revised version makes mention of how Mike switched from motorcycle tires to bias ply tires on the front. He also included quite a bit at the end as a reflection on his time on the road with the car. JH
Oh yeh, that reminds me. 40 less pages and there is an new/extra chapter in the revised edition which would mean even more content missing from the original version.
Not true. I published the original and used a large type face in deference to older eyes. I also used a standard layout throughout the book. When I sold the book to MBI, Steve Hendrickson and I worked together to reformat it to make it more profitable to print and distribute. There was no reduction in essential content. Mike Bishop
Thanks Mike, was hoping you would to chime in. So there is no difference between the two and the revised edition has more in it?
Sorry Clark , slight hijack here ! Mike , just wanted to say how much I enjoyed and learnt from your and Vern's book , its the most well thumbed book on my shelves . Also the most often borrowed by my mates , tightwads should really get their own
There is no difference in content; The car had been on the road for about a year and 10,000 miles by the time the book went to the printer, so the first edition includes a retrospective detailing some changes and upgrades. Ratty -- Thanks for the comments. It's good to hear that the book was helpful. Mike
Now that the original question has been answered, by the most authoritive source (get it?).... if I may be so bold to offer my own hijack.... Mike, around these parts, your book is known simply as "The Bible" My first copy was stolen from me by a good buddy. It has since virtually exploded apart from usage. My replacement copy is in marginally better condition, but has a fair bit of grinder grit stuck in between the pages. Thanks for your effort......and Vern's too.
