Damn Chris, very cool. Nothing better than old drag racing photos. Like the 65 chevelle altered wheel base car, and also the Sumpin else 2, Grady bryant car. brian

I have a mess load of pictures to scan...........but, bad news........Pat Ellis one of my pop's good friends that loaned me the pictures to scan passed away this past week.........god speed to Pat Ellis...........he is the guy that owned the "Derby shop" and told many of a story that I am soon to write down in a journal to pass along when I get older. But the good news is that they are donating a bunch of good stuff to be passed along to others. Please fill out your donor card on the back of you drivers license.

The Pasadena Dodge was built into a AWB car by my dad, not by Pasadena Dodge High Peformance Center, that's where Chuck sold cars at the time. That car was wrecked in the front end by a old lady. Chuck bought the car for less than $100. Ted built a Fuel injected Hemi for the car, then moved the rearend forward, then built the straight axle front end. Chuck moved to Wichita so he could race, and of course work. In 1966, his car was ranked 3rd in AHRA's Super Stock/Funny Car Top Ten. In 67' Chuck sold the car to Bobby Dishroom as he could'nt be on the road as much as my dad. The roll cage was bent around the tree on the side of the shop at my dad's 1st garage he had on Ida. The roll cage is also 1inch too short on the drivers side forward down bar. That is also why there is a strap welded to it and the floor. Steve DeTar

Awesome photos, I grew up within 15 miles of Mo-Kan and spent many great sundays there. Where is the photo of your Dad and his car taken?

In 1963 we travled to mo-kan with our zll chevy and raced Ted,who was driving the Merl Yost black 63 wedge car. For some reason we all stayed in the same motel room togather. If my memory serves me correctly JIM hall and Dave Rupp were with us.

Larry Ericson had the Black 63 car, Dave Rupp had the Red 63 Plymouth, the Red Bandit, Jim Hall drove for Harry Baker out of Newton and also piloted Chuck Grimsley's Pasadena Dodge in the early development of that car. If you remember Dave "Rachet-Jaw" Rupp, you never got any sleep. He was a hell of a driver. Steve
