Found it, need it, want it! 1940 five window coupe. All original -still has the 12 cylinder. Has been in storage for 25 years. What's a fair price? Kathy
Buy it. Not many around and if you decide to sell, you will get your $$$ back! One of the most deco-looking cars (Desoto Airflow too) ever made in my opinion. KNUX!
I'd say $8K-$10k if it needs some things would be fair. If it runs and is in spectacular shape, a good bit more. The 3-window coupes are the ones that bring HUGE dollars, the 5-windows aren't worth as much but are very cool. Post some pics and perhaps we can be more helpful. Hope you get it! John Joyo...
My buddy and lurker here just bought one last year. It's an older resto that never got finished. Paid around 20k I believe. Did come with a rebuilt and uninstalled v-12 too......slim
Hell yeah have 2 and a plain ole Lincoln 2500 and up,,depending on condition But at 25 years storage ,,I would say less ,,less it was perfect whe parked and parked indoors
I bought one for $3500. It was missing the V-12 which I wasn't going to use anyway. The body was in great restorable shape not needing much metal work a couple dents and surface rust in places. That was a little over a year ago I think. Over the last coupe years I've known of two 5-windows that have sold in my area (Texas). One was BAD ***, it was stored for many years but must have been beautiful before it was stored. Wouldn't have taken much to make it rock and roll....paint was nice and all. That one sold for $16,000. The other one sold for just under $8K and was in pretty decent barn find condition (needed some patches and some love, but pretty nice and very restorable and complete). There is one here in Austin right now that is in the process of being sold for $5K that is VERY restorable. I've only seen 3-windows (40s and 41s) online for sale (none local) and they've been $15-$30K unrestored depending on condition. I'm no Zephyr expert, just what I've seen. We've got a customer that sent us a 3window '40 to build...I think he paid under $10K, but it is in horrible shape....horrible. Start low and work up from there GOOD LUCK! Let us know how it goes...
A neighbor has a 3 window Zephyr sitting behind his house. I think he traded a 34 ford 5 window for it. I haven't seen his 34 for a couple of years. The Zephyr is just sitting and getting worse by the day. Think he would sell?? HELL NO.!!
Get it for as cheap as you can !!!! I always thought a five window would look sweet if it was hardtop chopped and lean the trunk lid and back of the car forward shaping it more like a 3 window. The 1940 and up cars arent worth as much to me as they just have the deco design of the 37 to 39 cars. Buy it chop it just dont tell the lincoln purist nazi's LTR Dave
Why do all that work ? Just find a 3 window if you want that , there is nothing wrong with a 5 window chop job..just my .02!
I wasnt saying to make it look like a 3 window! I was just saying the five window has a fat *** on it kinda looks un proportioned to me. I nevr said there was anything wrong with 5 window. I like the 4 doors as well LTR Dave
Just spent today wiring one for a friend. It's a 39 or '40 convertible. Taillights were $600 NOS, the center dash grille was $700. Everything is expensive on this car! Hope yours is complete and with ALL the trim!
i just want the V12 and the transmission. i bet he's already s****ed the 12 for cash and put in a 350 Chevy retard engien in it and ruined it already.
