I've done some more work on my '27 T.

    Body is mounted ( 3 1/2" Channel )

And I got a new decklid skin, and the panel that goes below it.
The lower panel was pretty nice, but the decklid skin was only single curve.
So it looked really terrible on the car.

I spent a lot of time shrinking, stretching, bending and rolling ( with the English wheel), and now it looks like this.

Not perfect ( at all...), but a lot better...

I made a frame inside it out of 1/2" square tube to make it more rigid, and I also had to copy the LH side hinge in mirror image because the RH side was missing.

  3. Where do you get off calling yourself Metalshapes, you obviously don't know what you are doing. Just kidding, great work!

I take it this is a custom tool for making curves? Care to share any other shop-built tools with us mere mortals?

i good sturdy tree, a vise, some pliers and a cresent hammer is all you need to do good quality body work. I've done it befor, you'd be amazed at what you can do with a little time and a little thinking.

yeah, its a Tubing Bender I've made.

I can use it to very carefully match curves ( by just bumping it ), or make a tight bend.
The swivel part is there so you dont kink the tube...

    A couple more pics...

I looked around, I really dont have that many Home Made Tools.

I made these Shears when I was in School ( we got grades for every part of it...)

And I have some jigs that I made to narrow and straighten Rear Axles ( Morris Minor/Midget/Sprite & and I just made some for 9" Rear Axles too...)

Did some more rust repair on the T...

    Thanks...

I've been trying to figure out if I should chop it or not...

I was going to do a very slight chop, and take out a bit more at the front.
( like maybe a 3" in the front 2" in the rear )

But people keep telling me to leave it tall, unchopped...

    What do you guys think?

Chop it dude. I had a bunch of guys tell me the same thing on mine and I chopped it anyway. I'd do it again too. They look a bit more unique unchopped but way more mean and nasty with a chop. Especially a wedge like you're saying.

I had the same decklid for mine too. What a piece of junk it was. Good job crowning it a bit.

Lookin Good! Just curious, what size wheels and tires are those, they fit the car very well. I have been having one hell of a time trying to decide what wheel/tire combo to use on my T.

Great job on the T, looks good! I really like the tubing bender idea too, I'm gonna have to whip one up and try it. That would be a real handy thing for a few 1" box tubing things I need to make-if I ever get time to get to the shop again soon:rolleyes:

    Lookin good!

Might just be my opinion but I don't like T's with an angle chop. And I like to angle chop everything! My T had a slight angle chop when I got it and I straightened it back out.

    Hmmm... Thats good to know...

They have a little bit of wedge in them, stock.

And I thought about making it a little more obvious...

But I have to admit, the tall look is kinda growing on me.

Maybe somebody can do a quicky Photoshop?

  23. Just chop out the height of the front header panel.

I only do 1/2" with it...

  26. I gotta T and I chopped mine 5'' and 5 and a quarter in the front post's. I was trying to make the stock angle a little more obvious. This is just my opinion but I think you got to chop a T with out the chop they look like carriages. Just my 2 cents

That's a good question, I just lowered it until it looked in proportion to me. I'd probably guess 3 or 4 inches.

But I'd play it by sight anyway. I think the window height should be less than the height of the doors. I'm just real tired if the cartoon chops.I

I've been looking real hard at Titus' T in the classifieds...

    My Idea...
