I was on my way to the supermarket about an hour ago and I saw 3 of the cleanest most sinister looking kustoms Ive seen in a while. Looks like they were parked in front of a club for a private party or something near fairfax and melrose. Ive never seen any of them at the socal car shows. Anyone know who built them etc? Looks like they might have all been built by the same hand as they were all severely chopped and lowered full customs and gloss black. Really kool details. The first one says something like evil'37 on the license plate but I cant even figure out what it started off as. the merc was clean too. It had '57 chevy hood spears molded into the hood. the 3rd one (46 ford) was pretty wild too. Made my day!
The Merc looks a little like the one the Drag'n shop built, but I don't think it's the same one. Whatever the case, they're all bad-***!! Bryan
The Ford was at the Moon X-mas show this year, I think I remember it hangin around the Gonners C.C.? The top car reminds me of a Jaguar?
The gonners have some cool rides but I dont think anything like that. maybe he was parked next to them? Thats what I was thinking too, like a jaguar grill..maybe early 50's. I liked it, its cool and different.
I have seen them around, I saw the guy with the first one at Bob's Big boy on night and he did use a Jaguar XK-120 front hood. I can't remember what the car started out as. CBB
This must be Frenz´s "******aflow"! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=126048&highlight=******aflow
I LOVE the first one with the Jag grille. It has outrageous lines and just flows like liquid mercury. Unbelievably slick. The top and rear window treatment flowing into the deck lid and the peaked rear fenders are just so elegant. The Merc is, well, not my favorite as the '57 Chev hood ornaments just don't fit the otherwise very slick car at all. My eyes keep going back to the protuberances and not because I like them. They are so obtrusive, I just can't forgive them and really wonder what the builder was thinking when he added them. Less would have been way better here. I generally like the '46(?) coupe but not the tribal flames. Sort of incongruous for a period style cusom - at least in my admittedly old and feeble mind. Thanks for stopping and taking the pics, especially of the wild custom.
If I give you a gl*** of milk could you make me a milkshake? Joking with yah dude, I would have stopped to, *****in trio of slammed metal.
We have alot of Aussie vegetation in So Cal, it seems the home centers and garden stores make a big deal out of "Austrailian plants". That's good by me! Very nice iron too!!
Yeah those cars are Jesse's creations from Lordz of Kustomz. He had the Ford at Moon and was parked with the Gonners. He probably sold them or had them there for a film shoot or something. Those are definitley Jesse's cars..........Look him up, He's on here!
he did some stuff on your car right short dog? You are right The tribal flames are not traditional, but they looked cool and he picked the right color. puple-ish silver. I actually like the 57 hood spear things on the merc. without 'em resembles every other merc. the jag car was really crazy, I like when people do things different. As far as the shaking, sorry i didn't have my tripod and it was a night shot! haha
That's what I was thinking, with a jag grille. From the front fenders back, it looks a lot like some of the Delahaye models. Front fenders, lights, split windshield and tail are very similar.
Front fender lights look like they came off an old Schwinn Black Phantom front fender light...Cool ride(s) they all have some very different touches from the usual customs
MORE LOS ANGELES MADNESS!!!!! VAN BLERCK SPARTAN 17 LITRE Yes, LA is the place of the unusual and amazing when it comes to custom cars - Here is one that is just being finished - It is a giant speedster built on a moditied 1920 American LeFrance chain-drive fire truck ch***is, the engine is a 1915 "T" head engine of 17 litres. Built by Gary Wales in the famed San Fernando Valley, this rig puts to shame any of the special cars that were made for films like The Great Race, Those Daring Young Men And Their Jaunty Jalopies, or even Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang .............. truly a he-man's ride!! Best, Rick Feibusch VeniceBeachRick
I have seen that tribal flammed w/ skullz before at Bob's. One thing straight since we are on the subject. Kustomer' come in and pay for what they want alot of times and pay good money for it. Don't put one down because the finished product is not of your particular liking. I worked for Jesse at his shop and he has some very mild and radical looking rides that are of customers, not his. So remember. If someone comes in, tells ya what they want and are paying for it, you do it. He has a family and needs to provide. That is what happens when you are in biz for yourself. If you don't do what they are asking for you to do, then they will take it elsewhere and you are s.o.l!!!!!!! Not intended to piss anyone off, just tired of the sarcasm if that is the intentions here and I seem to read alot of that here. KNUX!
53burb, couldn't agree with you more! My only point was to express my feelings regarding the cars. I have no idea who built them or when or for who. I don't know any of the people involved or who paid what to whom. I only stated what I liked and didn't like. Just my opinion and it's only worth something to me.
No offense, Rick, but what the hell does that have to do with LoK's cars? Maybe from same locale to some extent, but you're comparing g****s to g****fruit, pal.
Looks distinctively like SPAM to me! Some pretty nasty lookin' cars there. Sure would turn heads if they went past me. Those headlights on the supposed Jag just look like early volksy.
I'v seen those cars at Pamona Swapmeet. First one is Frankenstein looking, all kinds of parts. The Merc is overchopped,IMO,and hate the 57 Chevy hood parts. Love the Ford, but hate the flames. Still would say it's cool to see them rollin the streets.
