Well, Comet and I were talking...OK, we were PM'ing... The only Friday nite car hangout that I knew of in the Seattle area was up at the Taco place north of Lynnwood. Last year the Burger King closed down, and now the Taco place is gone. All I found was an empty parking lot a few weeks ago. Maybe it's time for a HAMB/Hot Rod/Custom friendly Friday nite hang anyway? Comet suggested Dick's burger place, but it can be pretty full of "regular" folks on a Friday eve? Any thoughts of a good place with a decent parking lot and some grub near by?
How about Georgetown - South Seattle, just north of boeing field? There's a few good bars off airport way (9lb hammer, Smarty Pants, Jules Maes). Ranier cold storage has a big parking lot across the street that, as long as no one has a problem with it, could hold 50-100 cars. Oh yeah...food, there's really good pizza down the street at Stellas, Smarty pants has great sandwiches, jules maes has good bar food burgers, etc.
I heard people are going to Wendys , north of Silverlake on Silverlake Rd next to Costco on Fridays and Albertsons parking lot on Sat on HWY 9 in Clearview. Just what I heard havnt been. Doug serves FREE BEER though!!!! FEDER
what about triple X A&W burger in Issaquah?? That lot holds a ton of cars and has rod meets from time to time.
The doors at AMOCAT are always open! Free beer most of the time, and a good size parking lot as well. Although Puyallup is a little far for some of you. Rolf, did my friend Pat get a hold of you? I have been crazy busy. Steve
i want to hang out, but my seats are out of my car right now. Ive been busy getting the seats upholstered. Trying to get it going so i can get it on the road.
Ive heard somthing about a Herfys or Heftys burgers having sothing going on on the weekends but thats just what I heard. Ive never heard of the place though.
I did not know about the Wendy's thing on Fridays. I think Friday is a good day for this, just a nice way to wind down after a work week. I am glad to hear about the beer, can he serve up some burgers too?
Steve, I appreciate that, and yes, that may be a bit too far for a Friday nite deal. I will come by and drink your beer during any events in lovely Puyallup though... About Pat...I will fill you in later...
Lets go to Dugs, he's easy to trick parts out of, and steal from......or we can hang out at my new shop, it's chock'fulla labor inspired hanging out, concrete work, hand tools, carpentry, painting, metal work, plumbing, electrical....fun, fun!
Because of people like you everything now has anti-theft tags. You know the kind that set off the alarm when you go out through the turnstiles. Yes, I even have turnstiles. Guys like you ruin it for everyone else.
I didn't invent turnstiles, the British did that, I can teach you how to defeat the system, since I had one at my store
I'll second Jules Maes having good sandwiches. The mopar club used to (maybe still does - I haven't kept up membership) meet at a pizza place on 196th in Lynnwood. -bill
I don't live in Seattle any more but back in the 50's we hung out at the Olive Way Barrel, the Rainier Barrel and the Ballard Barrel...We regularly drove to Tacoma on Sat. nights to meet at Busch's at 38th and S. Tacoma Way...Then off to the tide flats for an evening of street racing....The Seattle cars almost always dominated. 90% of the cars were hot rods at that time...Roadsters and coupes.
I did stop by the Albertsons park lot in clearview last night @ around 6:30. Only about 10 cars there maybe to early? FEDER
yeah I hear that albs lot can get pretty packed sometimes might have to check it out next weekend?? my buddy was saying some nights there is up to 75+ cars out there..
Covington Wal-Mart on Friday nights....Was Fred Meyer till this year. Lotsa' parking, should be good if ya' can get past the hanging out at Wal-Mart thing. Pat
Thanks for starting this thread Rolf. Here's an idea. What about a rolling cruise night for Hamb'rs? Seems a lot of muscle cars at these places, so we need to stick together! It would be cool to see a bunch of old timey junk show up at someplace north Friday night on the 1st weekend of the month, then someplace central or eastside on the 2nd weekend and south on the third. Just a thought. That way if you feel like stretching the legs of your hot rod, you can. Or if you want to hang close to home you can wait for the one in your area. I like the free beer and parts at Dug's though! I'll take my chances on the theft tags and turnstiles Yes, I believe they still do. Alfy's, like the last Tues of the month or something. We used to have a non- hot rod meeting at the same time and there were always there. They also have a big lot, discounts on groups and serve beer. The parking is in the rear.
X2 Got another 383 block I can ring and slam some heads on so I can drive the truck. I need a fix bad. -bill
Yeah thats a really good spot...its got a huge parking lot thats almost always empty. Wendy's shares the parking lot with some discount furniture place thats never been terribly busy. And my three windows close enough for me to push it there!!! Johnny
