I'm leaving for Starbirds tomorrow morning to attend the Merc Deuce Reunion and my brain is already there. I know that Stuckey's Merc won the 1984 show and the high-tech sectioned convert won the last one. Who won the rest of them? Happy Trails, Mick
I thought the last one was billed as the "last ever"? ***us turn it over to someone else? I've seen a list of winners somewhere.. but can't remember at the moment.. Brian
Borrowed this picture from Rikster's site. This is the Merc that won the last one. I think one of the winners was the red one that was in Hot Rod Magazine. It was on the center spread and had raised rear fender wells and major cut up body work. Yep I'm bored , just trying to figure it out...... Happy Trails, Mick
I know that Larry Kramer won it twice. Once with his Merc and the second time with the Mercrodder that hebuilt for C.K. Spurlock. (or was it K.C. ?)
That one was built by Dave Auten Jr. I believe, the red one was built by Larry somebody,I think for C.K.Spurlock,Kenny Rodgers manager and Gambler Sprint car ch***is company owner.I think it was on a vette ch***is or something, hardly recogniziable as a merc!
I might be wrong but I'm thinking this is the first car that Kramer won with. I know that's a Kramer crest on the fender. The last time I saw the car it was purple.
Kramer also won with that red ultra high tech one. You gys are forgrtting Bob Johnsons "So Fine ' chopped 50 cuope that was candy wine with ghost scallops,a 54 Pontiac grille,50 Buick frenched taillights. The car was later flamed in Kentucky and sold to Phil Bigotto in Jersey.
I didn't realize that Kramer's Merc won the first one. I've always been a fan of his Rides. They were wild but you could still tell what they were. Thanks guys for the input... Happy Trails, Mick
This is what a Merc is supposed to look like IMHO ... I went to the 84, and 89 Merc-Deuce Reunions ... missed 94 ... I thought that they were finished ... once every five years for 5 times ... is how they were billed in the beginning. To me ... the more conservative Mercs look the best ...
I went to the 94 show anybody remember that crazy silver merc with the newer custom stuff on it ? I got pictures somewhere of it but got a picture of these cool naked women pinstripes..lol
You are talking about Egon Necellis car.The striping on the car you pictured was obviously done by Keith Knecht.
