sloper progress

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by X38, May 12, 2007.

  1. For those who have asked, this is where I'm at. Been slow lately not a lot of progress - work gets in the way unfortunately. I had one real bad door and had to make another one using some fordor doors I had. A six inch stretch and a bunch of piecutting. Funny thing is the other door is perfect except for a small bit of rust in the botom.

Well, I didn't ask but I'm glad you are showing. Ford slopers were the best Aussie body style and yours is improved again, nice work.
What colour are you aiming for? I can see it maroon with those aftermarket hollywood flipper caps, The expensive ones that look like the real deal, not the taiwanese frizbies.

Everything about that looks just right. It'll be killer when its finished.

  10. The body is a 39 standard, although when I got it the front sheetmetal was 38 deluxe.. Doors came off a 40. Here's a pic I took a few years back at a restorers show an Australian and US Tudors side by side.

Not many fat fender body styles look better than and Aussy sloper.

    Wait, Im wrong.

NO fat fendered car looks as good as an Aussy sloper.
Its on my 'To do list', and that has to be the sweetest sloper I have ever seen and its still not finished!
Is that a LaSelle grille or Packard??

  12. Looking real good x38. Can't wait to see it finished.

That's a sweet looking project. You've got the lines and stance nailed right on! Really sharp...

Now, the more I look at it, the more I think I could do that with my daughters old VW Bug.. NAH.. better not. LOL

  19. Great to see.

what's the plans for the rear panels/bumper, are you going to make a smooth rollpan/extension, or modify the rear bumper arrangement?

Great to see progress none the less.

    Cheers,

Hows the stinky steering wheel going.

What a great early style custom this will be. It gets better each update.

I love the new 49 Lincoln hubcaps. They it the style perfectly.

I added a smooth hood side, rounded the corner on B-pillar removed the blocks it sits on and added the rear wheel/tire.... and did some background work to make the car stand out a little better.

  24. Thanks Rikster, you're a champ! I thought you would have lowered the rear a bit more and pumped up the front wheels to 15 inchers. We'll get there!

Grille is a Packord. 41 Packard Clipper style grille made to fit a 38 Deluxe Ford shape. Going to use 46 Ford bumpers, narrowed and tucked in to the body. Fenders moulded. Undecided about a moulded rear pan. yes/no?

  25. I think it depends exactly of how you deal with those bumpers..

If you can gracefully modify/create a flowing blend of the bumpers to the body lines, then no, not required, if not, then you need the moulded pan (blending to the bumpers).

It definately is calling for chrome bumpers, you just need for them to visually 'fit', and not be 'just a bit of steel lowering down the back'

    Cheers,
