I will be in boulder Co from july 20 to the 27th. Is there anything to do there car or bike wise? My wife is there for classes so I have all day to myself, but with my 1 year old son, so nothing too filthy. Any junk yards or hot rod shops within an hour or two? Anyone bummin' around and I could take a look at your hot rod? Evinings might be ok too, Ill just have to ditch the family or bring them with. Speaking of ditching the wife, are there any good bars? Thanks for any imput, I just dont want a totaly boaring week.

The DARK HORSE was a Kool bar at one time....Cruise up rte 36 to Denver and check out CasaBonitas if it is still open. That place was a hoot! Drive up to Flagstaff in the evening and watch the lights from town at the amphitheater up there, great place to chill and have a drink to unwind in the evening but ya gotta bring yer own.... Hell the last time I was in Boulder was 1976...I gotta get back out there and check it out again...My cousin who works at Coors says the place really got Yuppieized:(

ColoRODANS of Longmont usually has their rod festival that weekend - about 300 cars

  8. I agree! Boulder sucks unless you like dirty hippies or snobby tree huggers. Denver is not far at all though!

  9. I'm out in Denver and Boulder every year, got family there. Not much to do in Boulder, except go to the Celestial Seasonings factory tour (I'm a sucker for factory tours) and Left Hand Books on Pearl Street, since I'm a socio-political radical. Denver is much more happening. Casa Bonita is a fucking dump. Shitty overpriced food, crawling with screaming kids. Kinda like the Mexican food version of Chuck E. Cheese's. If you dig Mexican food, it's everywhere, and it's cheap and good. My faves are Tacos Rapidos on W. Evans, and Puerto Vallarta Restaurant on Federal Blvd. Unfortunately, only thing going on at Bandimere Raceway when you're there is those pesky junior dragsters all week. There's lots of cruise nights and such, at least that's what I hear from everyone who lives there, but in the several times I have been there, haven't seen any good ones, just little gatherings at Sonic with rich retirees in restored Corvettes. Music scene is good, tho, you can pretty much find anything. Last time I was there I saw Rush, El Vez, Joan Jett, Cannibal Corpse, and Big Sandy & The Flyrite Boys, obviously not all in the same show, but you get the idea how diverse the tastes are. Pick up the Westword (or look it up online), it has a lot of happenings in there.

Yeah, truth be told about the hippie tree hugger thing. Nice place to walk around though. Some cool houses there.

Didn't Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedy's) go to Boulder High School? Once heard that. Not sure if it's true or not.

Denver has quite a few things. Drop in and visit Riley Automotive or Hanksville Hotrods in the Littleton area. Both are HAMB vendors and super rad guys!! Also, I think Streamline is in the down town Denver area. Around the corner from Streamline is a good mexican resteraunt too... :D

Well, there are some pretty neat homes in Boulder but it is a full-throttle druggy town. The best mexican around is south in Morrison @ the Morrison Inn. If you order a large draft it's about a quart mug. Plus the best queso anywhere. Drive up Boulder Canyon pretty scenic area. Boulder itself should be razed to the ground, the ground plowed and salt sprinkled on it.

It's not car related but I was in Denver about 4 weeks ago and went to Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It is definately worth seeing and is free also. You can even get a beer there.

I'd head the other direction. Take the family up to Estes Park. It's Less than an hours drive. It's at the base of Rocky Mountain National Park and it's some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. It's not car related, but it's a good time.

Boulder sounds pretty shitty, not a fan of hippie green hillery al gore lovers myself. If Denver is close what is there to do there? Does anyone know any good old junk yards? There has to be some good old tin still out there.

Both good junk yards, kind of out on there own (not much else to do around them), but they let you walk around both yards on your own.

Estes Park is a very cool thing to do with the family

He dosn't seem to let everyone just walk around thou, if I go by myself they won't let me, but if I go with a couple of guys from the car club they will. Don't ever understand why or why not???

If you are looking for Family things to do, don't forget Buffalo Bill's Grave on top of Lookout Mountain in Golden, Coor's Brewery (take the Tour-free Beer) also in Golden, there is a large Train Museum there. And, there is the Budweiser Tour in Fort Collins.

Red Rocks is good, but if you do that then don't forget to go up to Evergreen to little Bear's and have a Beer (beautiful area).

A lot of Colorado's charm is in the Mountains (Vail, Glenwood Springs, Aspen, Steamboat Springs)-if you get a chance (and have the time) it's beautiful and there is lots to do (Whitewater Rafting, Camping, Swimming, Fishing, etc.).

I agree with scootermcrad-go to Streamline-I was there yesterday and the Inventory is different everytime I go (and if you like them, there is still two Bo Huff Cars there).

There is a cool Aquarium in Denver-worth seeing, two Amusement Parks (if you like that kinda thing)-more to do in the area than you might think-

  28. Thats weird, he lets me walk around out there all the time. I was just out there last week rumaging through there wheels trying to find a good set of steel rims. Maybe I just always catch him on a good day. I'm sure he will probablly shut me down one of these days.
