Thanks for the reminder! I fabbed up a video cam mount a few years ago for the 'cage - mounts just behind my right shoulder, giving a good view of cockpit and through the windshield (got some fun sideways drag footage with it). It worked okay. In fact, we used it on the Nash at B-ville. I'll put that on the list.

If it's your lifes dream to have a 150 MPH turd to display on the mantelpiece, I can make it happen. Just remember what I've been telling you for years now: you can't polish a turd.

Man, you've already done so much for me...Folks, this guy has saved my ass numerous times - way too many stories to write here, but suffice to say, we wouldn't EVEN be talking about taking the Morris to B-ville today, if House hadn't stepped up and saved the day when I tried to sell it to start a new life in '01. He does these things while raising a family and running a top notch rod shop and living a life - and being a HAMB poster boy. My hero.

In fact, in an hour, I have a meeting with the gang that volunteered to help put together a couple of fundraiser events for the salt trip. I have a surprise for those people: I don't want to do a fund raiser. Maybe if it were to raise money for cancer research or something, but just to support my speed habit seems so wrong. I want to have fun on this trip and I don't think I could, knowing that other people GAVE me the gas money. Besides, I'm trying to show how Joe Lunchbucket can go to Bonneville - not how to con others into paying for it. I'll continue with the t-shirt sales, since that's already been set up and put into place (and wasn't my idea) , but I can't see starting any more fundraising projects. If anything significant happens at this meeting, I'll report on it here.
Meanwhile, I'm hoping to get Lil Zilla up on the rack at Custom Metal in the next few days to stab in the low buck homegrown anti-roll bar. I know it's not EVEN a traditional hot rod deal, but will gladly do a tech post, if anyone's interested...

Finally! A reasonable request. Lone Wolf (are you the lone rodder of Malta?), I'd be honored to haul your piss across the salt - bring it on! Just remember, International Hazmat shipping charges will apply...

BTW, todays meeting with the fund raiser group went well - okay, just one guy showed, but that's enough for a 1/3rd vote. Anyway, I'll probably sell some shirts locally and call it good. I'll get there somehow, if it's meant to be. It already feels better, knowing it's just my problem now and no one elses - AHhhh...

Another relief was finally realizing that the magazine story wasn't meant to be either - I mean, I've had really good luck freelancing (90% of my submitted stories have been published!), but writing a story about myself just felt like bad karma from the get-go. Now that I've let that go, I feel like I've lost about 50 lbs (a huge weight savings at the strip!). And now I can focus on my work a lot better - got some good stuff done this weekend (all little misc. chores, but now they're done and I can focus on the bigger stuff). I'll still write this story, but will stash it away for a future book project...

Aman - Glad to take you back to yesterrear (butta-ting!) No, but seriously...
Just been doing little non-photogenic (cleaning) chores the last couple of days. Once I get it on the rack at my buddys shop, there'll be a real horror show of rust and sloppy 22 year old workmanship to grock. Stay tuned for that...IF YOU DARE!!! Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lone Wolf - Listen very carefully: It is your destiny to establish Malta as the hot rodders promised land (or, the "Malta Mecca")! Yes! When government regulations, irate neighbors and popular opinion banish all rodders from the U.S., we'll need a place to go. Malta just might be it! If you do the legwork now, making preparations for the millions of rods that will take over your humble country, imagine your status in the "New Malta"! You'll be like the hot rod King! You think hot rod Morrises are cool? - if this happens, you'll have your pick of hot and cold running Deuces, man! 3-window, 5-window, roadster, B-400 - what color do you want? That's right - we'll all be indebted to you for saving us and giving us this new paradise to cruise in and will gladly do anything you ask. It could happen...
Or, if you prefer a simpler life, snag one of those Morris bodys laying around there and start building the Morris of your dreams. If I can do it, anyone can.
It doesn't take a bunch of money - just time, patience, passion and a clear vision. That's all I started with and it's still all I have - except for the time part.....Dreaming is good fun and is important, to a point - maybe now it's time to get into action??? Only you will know when the time is right............

  15. You do know Malta is only 9 miles long and about 6 wide? We will have to build a big bridge to Gozo for the 10 mile course.
That or you'all can come to Australia and run on the best salt in the world............

Did anyone know that in a single month of bombing during WWII a greater tonnage of bombs fell on Malta than on London in the whole of the Blitz?
Faith, Hope and Charity. The three gladiators. Read up on it.

dude,i don't think those headers will be allowed to run on the salt, they aim down at the salt, thats not allowed, you need to turn them out and not down.
i'd hate for you to get there and get bounced out for that!
and yes,i've run the salt and i run maxton also.

  18. I'd love to get to Malta, I MEAN LOVE TO! My grandfather was on one of the convoys that relieved Malta in 42, Operation Pedestal (With the infamous SS Ohio). He was on the Brisbane Star, the lone merchant ship that limped in the day after the main convoy arrived.
His story of that convoy was incredible, because of what he told me about it I have read every book I can lay my hands on about Malta. Man what a place, what a history!

  19. PS, sorry to hijack the thread, back to way cool morries and big motors.
Hey you guys seen this Aussy Morrie??

Hmmm...I'm likin' this - we make Malta our headquarters (after widening, smoothing and repaving all the roads), then build that bridge to Lake Gairdner (should this giant bridge have exits for the big cities, while we're at it?) All of this construction will create a lot of jobs - we'll be heroes! Now let's see - there's about 20,000 HAMBers now, but I bet only 10,000 or so will actually make the move to Malta (although over 18,000 will swear they'll be there). This can't miss! My only concern is the fuel supply - does anyone on here have a connection with OPEC? We'll need enough premium for everyone and a good supply of rear tires, too. Lone Wolf - is there enough food there for all of us? Remember, when we move in, most of the current residents will move out...Okay, cancel B-ville - Malta here I come!!!

Hey Randy - Thanks for the heads up! I'm already entered and the USFRA has seen photos of the car and didn't say anything - but I'll ask 'em about it anyway.

Your Fiat sounds like an absolute animal! That's one hairy 'banger, mister (Chevy?)! Yikes! I may just know this car........................................

No, I haven't seen that one before - pretty fun. Hey Doc, you oughta post that on the "Eh Rocky, still got your old Morris?" thread. It's turned into the unofficial Morrises of the HAMB gathering...

Glad you like your new shirt, Turbo! The fun is built right in, plus they're SFI approved (up to Spec 3.2). Okay, not really, but wouldn't that be cool if they were? They are, however, very soft and absorbant - great for polishing parts and/or mopping up fluids off the shop floor. And like all Gosson Bros shirts, there's a little secret ingredient that releases into your pores, knocking a hundredth or so off of your E.T. - no extra charge. Just don't try getting one through the airport check-in...(don't ask)..

And I PMed you about the headers. Wether we do this or not, thanks so much for even considering it! I still can't believe how blessed I am, running into all of these big hearted people - you're all inspiring me to try to be a better person myself...thanks again.

Well, it's been a few days now and I still haven't been to Malta or gotten much done on the car, either. Life happened, you know. Got in some shop time today and cleaned up all that front sheetmetal mounting stuff and painted it. Oh, and I did some bodywork on the front fenders (filled old parklight holes) and grille surround (added 2" of steel to bottom, so now I have a place to attach the temporary "air dam" for B-ville). Baby steps...
Too tired to start a new thread tonight, but will do it soon. Meanwhile, the T-shirt store is still open - doesn't look like we'll be printing any more, so when these one-of-a-kind collectibles are gone, they're way gone, daddy-o!
Buy 'em now for HAMB prices, or buy 'em later for E-bay bucks (which will still seem cheap, compared to what they'll go for at the Barret-Jackson Auctions)...

Well, yeah - I spent the weekend on a local t-shirt sales blitz, which was kind of interesting. I sent Nate some pix to post, so when he does that, we'll see just how interesting it really was...
Otherwise, work, work, work...Today, I'm finishing the bodywork/paint on the nose, then bolting it all back onto the car. Next up is fabbing a towbar, so I can pull it out to Dr. Lockjaws shop and attack the rest of the chassis work. Then it gets wired. By then, I should have the drivetrain ready to go back in. We'll see - yesterday was supposed to be the beginning of the engine machine work, but my machinist pal says he's at least a week behind, plus there's some kind of delay with the cam (an Isky custom grind). If this all works out, it's gonna be pretty close...
