gotgas, thanx for infos...do you think is still worth it to save it????

metal body is reallly rusted out in several points....

  2. But it does have the highly sought after rear bumper wings. The guys at "Forward Look" would go nuts. As if that were any more possible.

DAAMMM...I theenk I just shit my self, one of those Montezuma's revenge runny ones....

  4. Yes, the two doors are especially worth saving. They are actually manufactured from compressed rust.

Just kidding Senor. It does indicate how rust-prone these are. If it can rust in Mexico...

If you were to go pretend to be deaf and mute.;) As my GF's aunt told me when we walked around the vendors, if you see something you want let us know and we will do the talking. If they hear your accent and English the price goes up.
It's not so much prejudice but that you probably have the money.

Sled what a great thread!!! It brings back a lot of memories of when I went to private school there in the D.F. '75-78 I lived in Colonias Vista Hermosa on the Toluca hwy and in Colonia Polanco. Folks as u can see there are loads of these cars down there....I remember a spot on the Toluca hwy maybe 8-10 km out from the end of Reforma that was packed with 60's muscle cars....camaros chevelles stangs wilcats catalinas roadrunners chargers even a favorite of mine a 69 daytona!!! The 20-50's cars were all over the place too just as u see in Sleds pics!! WOW
Was pics of the car show taken at The Hacienda San Jose de Vista Hermosa ???

Superfleye,naaaaa...Cuba is just show and surface, not worth it!!!

ok,cool place to hang out and see some shit but been myself plenty of times and even for free will not take any car from there...

they have NO spares since 1959,man....all you see around (or mostry) is moved by russian diesel engine with different pistons sizes,is just crap....i mean, they have no oither choice, great mechanics and skills...

but not worth it to bring the stuff back in a normal market to bebuild it in a decent way....

mexico is another world, and good fun too.....

Argentina has a LOT of stuff too, cars and motorbikes...you need time to get lost in the countryside, and patience....

anyway, get your holidays and have fun....

hotup jalop,no..the car show pix were taken at different years car show in Huixilucan ,estado de mexico.....

glad you like all stuff bringin good memories up...

anyway,is not like that anymore....all good stuf is hidden nowadays, not much in the public roads anymore....

you guys must know there is a police program in DF (mexico city)against all NOT registered vehicles sittin parked....if have no plates or not registered cops are allowed to immediately tow cars away, and bringin them to car corrals....wich you need to go and pay the fine...

daily fine is aprox 3 USD,so imagine how hard is the average mexican get back his property...this way so many cars have been chrushed,so many.....

and still today is the same...even worse with the low economic situation ....

it's time to introduce you hambers to my buddy Federico Duarte, alias CADDYMAN.....he used to have aprox 85 Caddys in his life, the nickname says something...

but this pride has been since more than 35 years this white 53 Eldorado cab,to my humble opinion THE absolut Caddy ever...

Was his daily driver car,not kidding...he used it everywhere from weddings to show and long distance...

2 years ago,me ,Fede (as i call him ) and his son John drove this thing to AZ for the Barrett-Jackson auction..havin a blast!!

still remember a french guy,Eldorado collector from Paris (he had 2 of em) literally stopped us in the middle of the road with the cops tryin to keep him off the way...and the guy screamin: the Eldorado'',the Eldorado'''...

he would'nt believe his eyes ,really...

and the gringos, all there with huge trailers downloadin high end "trailer queen" cars when they saw us the comment was: WOW,the mexican mob arrived, there is no way they can have such cars!!!

well, wrong guys....we have these and much more...the world is open for the open minded people, you see....

sorry about the pix,i realized have only those....but will ask Fede some more from the US tour,ok???

Caddyman does'nt know about this thread, will be smilin soon....

    more to come fellas, sled

here a nice unrestored A model cabriolet....has been sold it now locally....

A Fords are very popular here in Mexico, pleanty of em around but kinda expensive...

they over estimate values for sentimental reasons here....it was the grand daddy's car....we wont sell it,stays in the family as a memory.

happens all the time, especially for these 30's stuff.....

    What a great thread!
I went to Argentina in 91 and bought out a motorcycle shop.18 Vincent-HRDs in pretty poor condition...well maybe awful is a better adjective.I enjoyed the people. They were very enthusiastic about cars and motorcycles.I too was able to float around and see some great stuff. They had a show while I was there and there were some old road racers that were based on 37 chevies.Lots of cool postwar Italian machinery.Oldtimers will remember in the 80's lots of ads in HMN for early Fords coming out of Argentina.
On importing, just play it straight. If you have paperwork, just declare it coming across. If it is coming back into the States and was made here,no duty.Say you are bringing in an import, then its 4% as I remember.
Once many countries had a "national treasure" clause.I think this was to keep customs agents better fed.I don't think it is too much in effect anymore.
Last year I did a long tour into Sonora on my motorcycle.Every now and then I'd peek in scrap yards etc and sure enough, there was old iron there.
One thing you have to remember though is sometimes these have been kept alive out of desperation.Think of some of the fixes you have done in the middle of the night or desert etc to keep going. This is common place in other countries.I've also seen some very clever mods and fixes that trumped anything done here.

asphalt outlaw hero, thanx for the correct description on what's the feeling also here in mexico...very much similar to argentina, altough are different worlds...

but reflects just the spirit and way of life..still in Argentina there is lot of stuff, but as said before if you down there you need plenty of time ,language and contacs...place is huge to move!!

same here, but i personally feel that everything is much closer, not really far away...good networks a must!

well, try also to post more motorcycle stuff, wich i love too....my very frst passion...

i find this 35 coupe in a parkin lot from a sport club almost daily..... found out the owner is an old man, kinda rich that he moves around only with old rodded cars...he also owns a beautiful 34 sedan rod,in light metallic green color wich have no current pix...

he switch cars daily, but he use em all the time....he also owns a 57 chevy HT,also a nice one....

but does'nt go to car shows and anything...there are very different breeds of guys around...

slate, personally have't seen Cods around...or find em myself!!!

but i do know good real stories of friends who found em..Cords,supercharged Auburns in amazing conds....

you never know when they come up....but they are somewhere around...

for instance, the rich coutryside guys have impressive cars since the early days stored, just in barns...this is true, and havin lots of money they just keep 'em in the family....no need to sell....

just yesterday had finally a door open also to an old man wich has 120 cars himself....wealthy old man,he bought lots of good cars durin his all life, mostly convertibles...

just has the confirmation that at list 2 Fords Sportsman woodie cabs are there,in good shape....just to mention some shit...

and plenty more....will be not surprized if will be a Cord in these car lot...will have an inventory list soon, can't wait to go and check it out ....
