I really want to do a custom grill and cant figure out what to do. I would buy a chrome tube grill in a second if I could find one. Any ideas?
Hardware pull knobs (chrome). This can run a little expensive unless you find a place to buy them in bulk. It sounds hokey, but if you find a good example, you'll see how well it can be pulled off. Wire mesh can be inserted into the grill opening (recessed, so as not to be too noticeable) then simply attach the pull knobs through the mess in a pattern
Can you just paint the vertical bars semi-flat black Seems to me that would give you the tube look with very little effort.
Yeah, or go up market, cut down a '59 Chevy grill to fit between the headlights and either fill the space between the turn signals, paint it body color or use the left overs as is.
One of the coolest grille I've ever seen on one of these cars was the one L'il John buterra made for the Nova he built for his son. It was about the year your talking about. If anyone remembers it was on the cover of Hot Rod magazine and the grille was the centerpiece. It was made of aluminum bar stock and tubular spacers. Look for it, it wasn't hard to build and like most anything L'il does it was unique at the time and didn't break the bank to have one. Frank
wow a chrome tube grill, how...unique...goes great with the red wheels. guess one belly****on wasn't enough? oh yeah, doesn't anyone know that's it's tech week?? guess nobody knows how to read the important stuff anymore...
damn a sick weber charcoal grill would fit nice in the back of that thing for car show eats sorry I couldnt resist
After I get the tube grill I'm going to paint it flat black and put a Maltese cross on the door..... " " Maybe to make my Nova more unique I should put a sbc and a 350 turbo in it, maybe go pro street? Belly****ons and ***holes....you know what they say. And for the record, I did not know THAT IT IS tech week. ( That it's would also work )
To quote my father, "Hey-a Bambino, why-a you cry?" Hey, Creepyjackalope, How 'bout you run it toothless with a big *** moon tank fillin'up the viod?
the novette ( i think that was what it was called....) it was a neat piece .....doug jeeger ( i think that was the guy) had a red one with 5 spokes....absolutely *****in car as well....say what you want ...but , the billet style grilles looked nice....i think a 62 has a different style than the others ...best i remember , the bars were just flat....no indents....been about 14 years since i have owned a first series nova ...... brandon
