i once read somewhere that if old cars could laugh, theyd sound like mutley from the wacky races
beginning to think it might be true

bodged my yak up for a test drive, got the clutch working (though not perfectly) and gave it some stick up and down a small dirt road in front of my house

put it back in the garage to find its pissing water out through the brand new water pump gasket i just fitted a couple weeks ago
    and the clutch is slipping
    and the brakes are fucked
    (but i knew about those)
and it pulls to one side
and the handbrake dont work properly

you fix one problem and half a dozen others spring up in its place
and the constant removing of parts and needing to buy new gaskets and so on is killing me

but as they say: a hot rod is never finished

  2. Someone once said, "never patch an old coat with new material."
[pretty loose translation] If you put new pieces on an old hooptie it strains the older parts you can get around that by makeing it completely new but then it looses its character.

Old cars have character for sure, old scooters are the same. Here's my take on it. All they really want is attention and if you haven't given them what they want they'll do something to get the attention they want.

The only difference between old cars and kids, is you can't take a tax credit for the cars!
Otherwise they will scream, eat, and leak for attention!

But with old cars unlike kids, I like the smell.

Would you rather be fixing a beautiful old car or driving a Toyota?

Yes, please. My Toyota pickup has carried so much vintage tin, it's not even funny. I'm not a good enough mechanic to drive an old car full-time. Someday...

Are you sure you're in the right place?! That's what it's all about man! Just think of the reward at the end of the long road ahead... if you haven't bled on her, cussed her out, and apologized profusely when she's refused to start after you got through calling her names, you might want to seek couples counseling because you haven't truly fallen in love with your partner. Yes, I'm talkin about you and your CAR.

Rusty bolts and tiny things ... man, I wish I weren't at work right now.
