Well not really but it sounded good. I cruised the Sin Wag'n up to Milwaukee last night to my friends house that was cleaning this car up for a guy. I decided i needed to sit in it for some pics because it's a real Bugatti race car that still gets used alot. Thought you might want to see some pics.

Amazing the technology they had back then! Nice looking car, good to hear it's being used and not just sitting! Thanks for the pics!

  11. I thought this was going to be one of those VW powered contraptions from the 1970s.... I'm glad I was wrong!

Nice car, in the area... and with plates! I'll keep an eye out for it. :) :) :)

Thanks for the photos, but a photgraph can never do justice when you're talking Bugatti's......Some of them make my knees week, make my mouth hang open, and give me tears in my eyes.

How about that sweet dent in the rear tail section . It would be behind the passenger of the vehicle in the back .. the boat tail

Get this... I was just finished painting it and had just hand rubbed out the paint on it when he comes up and puts his huge gi-normous hands on that area and says "It looks too new" and basically presses a palm sized dent in that area..of the original aluminum deck lid / boat tail area!!!

\\And for those who have seen it in person... I purposely painted it that way on request of the owner. That paint is maybe 6 years old.

Wait til you see the new one he just bought out of Texas. It's a secret so far.

I seen the dent in the boat tail and it actually isn't that bad and looks right at home.

Thanks for posting the photos! I'll start a Bugatti wheel Tech thread after I take some photos.

  21. I would give my left nut for a car like that........almost. Man that sure is nice. Just think of what it was like to race a car like that in the '30s. Open wheeled, low windscreen, goggles, the dirt, oil, sound......lack of stopping power. I'll be taking a ride in a friend's restored 1936 Bentley LeMans soon and I'll be sure to get some pics.

    Oh SNAP! Diggity Dawg Mike,
Whos johson did you stroke to get a seat in that aluminum sex torpedo?
True story...Cheater Rome fails to mention in his modesty that he also did a full paint job on one of Big Brys 1932 Alfa Romeo 6C's. While that was occuring I got to beat on just about every car in oldboys stable! That includes and is not limited to that fake paint Bugattii that you are pictured in. I jammed that thing thru the 41 North turn going past Miller park, at rush hour & all over the mean streets of Tosa. So what I'm gettin at is if you wanna sniff the drivers seat, feel free, my stank is ALL OVER THAT SHIT!
As for the one he bought down in Te-Has, that shit ain't no secret, NOTHING get's on the hard streets of Milwaukee without The Cheaters Car Club knowing about it.
I'm still saving up join the secret society of rich dudes, but I'm glad that Brian was always generous enough to let us fix, (and sometimes break) his cool ass rides.
Dude to dude, the guy has always been right on with me, I kept the work I did short & sweet so no regrets, but Romes right about the other stuff in the Miller post, the dude has burned just about every bridge he has crossed, but lucky for him money can buy new bridges.
None of which is important, the important thing is that all who read this short mans spew of bitterness get in their hot rod or kustom & attend this years...

91st ANNUAL CHEATERAMA!!!! JULY 14th - THE NITE OWL DINER! GET SOME!

  23. just love the bug.....
always wanted one but know i'll never get it unless I win the lottery or sell everything I own.....always fancied building a Bugatti powered lakes T as well .....that might get done I could probably afford just the engine.....Or even a Bentley powered T but it would have to have a front mounted blower...

A good track roadster would blow their doors off (I know no doors) .... honest

I felt like I should have been racing wearing a fez

I've had a couple Bugs..... don't anymore ....don't plan to get any others :)

Thru away my blue blazer and saddle shoes long ago!

    I'm building my 8C 2300 Alfa and HAL :)

  25. Those engines are like jewels, carved out of a solid chunk of metal. Had the privelage of seeing a large collection of Bugatti's at the Cleveland Art Museum, years ago. Damn things gave me goosebumps. Ralph Loren Atlantic Coupe is absolutley stunning. The family was into ornate furniture and sculpures as well. http://www.absolutearts.com/artsnews/1999/07/18/25518.html

A close freind of mine has a 1/4 scale(?) childs electric powered toy, of this type 35. Was given to him by a rich customer. I beleive it was built in the early 60's? Somewhere I've got a picture of Nads son Miles, sitting in it.

Chances are every Bugatti is owned by someone with a greater net worth than yours, it was that way 1970-84 when I was working on them. We never bitched about it, and got a check every Thursday. If you need to Hambertize some GP Bugatti wheels it's easy to do. You'll need a shedge hammer, coal chisel, hand drill and some bits. Smash the spokes off the hub/brake drum, try not to wack the cooling fins on the drum. Make a centering fixture to fit inside the hub and draw a circle to match the wide 5 Ford bolt pattern. Drill the five holes for studs or bolts & nuts (your choise). The hub caps look racy to me but may be overstated for some.

That's almost as good as the Bug steering wheel you use on the Sprint'r

I used to use a 57sc blower as a door stop to my office. Always knew where it was AND it was a good door stop. :)
