No more Primer Nationals?????????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris Casny, Jun 10, 2007.

  1. Spending time at the Ink and Iron show in Long Beach, I heard stories/rumors about the Primer Nationals and the Back to the Beach shows in Ventura being cancelled.
I hear the partners that put on the show, had some sort of dissagreement etc. over finances.

What a shame it would be, to loose two great shows in Socal, because of some knuckleheads.
Does anybody know any details about this??????

I do not know the EXACT deal on these 2 shows, But i do know there is some sort of dispute between John & Jenny (TROPHY QUEEN) and Dave Hanson on the out come of the 2 shows.

John & Jenny are the ones that had aquired the rights to have the Primer show & Back To The Beach from Penny of WCKustoms a few years ago and it was there baby, went into partnership with Dave of THE SHOP in ventura.

The signs you speak of & any other advertising you see is the work of DAVE HANSON & has nothing to do with J&J at this time.

I can tell you, If DAVE HANSON ends up the one putting on the show, i can say it will NOT be the same as it has been.

He is about money and greed in my opinion, I have been to the bike shows he puts on at the fair grounds and its alway EXPENSIVE to get in, prolly due to the fact ITS THE ONLY PLACE AROUND HERE HOSTING THESE TYPES OF EVENTS !

I hate to pay money to got to his event ssince he LOST MY '57 PAN HEAD MOTOR in his shop  .... Got back a 1/2 STD 1/2 H/D case.

We will see, I think J&J are trying to plan a different show on these date's ... i will inform you here if i find out more

The partners did split. Info on a new show will be posted as soon as John and Jen secure a new venue. There will be a show, but the one I'm going to won't be called the Primer Nats. My loyalty remains with the Parkers.

Funny, no one can have fun anymore and enjoy a good thing when someone has dollar signs flashing off in their head. De Soto. Did I hear right? He LOST MY '57 PAN HEAD MOTOR in his shop .... Got back a 1/2 STD 1/2 H/D case.?????? The guy would have been walking a little different and I would have had my engine back on top of that. What is with people nowadays? KNUX!

unless things are way different than they were in the 60's and 70's, Ventura County is not the place to get worried about stolen Harley parts.

  13. Maybe we should all support, the Parkers, new venture, dispite of a name change and/or a venue change.

John is good people as they say. Kinds gave him a hard time at the last Primer Nats when trying to park. I got to park with the cool folks instead BFE! Plus it was the first show after working on my truck for 4 yrs. I'll definitely support their shows. And Thanks for putting Ventura on the map for having one of greatest car shows!

Yeah - I was wondering how long it'd be before this news came out. I've been sitting on it for a few weeks now. I was told because I cancelled my annual model car show to integrate into the Primer Nats and help run/grow the model car show there.

While I personally think this split would have been better left until AFTER the upcoming event, I understand that John's not the kind of person who can just let **** go. When it's over with him, it's OVER.

Now we have TWO shows at TWO venues on the same weekend in the same town... how confusing is THAT going to be?!!

Way I hear the story, Dave put up much of the scratch for the first couple of years, but now that the show is self-supporting, he's not doing much of anything, and still getting a 1/3 cut of profits. He won't sell his third to John and Jenny, so things just started to get uglier, and... Splitsville, Baby!

All that said, I'll be at John and Jenny's show wherever they hold it, and if they want, I'll still ***ist with the model car side of things. Right now, I'm trying to decide if I need to get hot and produce my own model show again before the end of the year.

All this said, it really hasn't been resolved yet that I've heard of, and while I have my doubts that there will be any reconcilliation, conditions are always variable.

    More correctly, "With whom?"

Around here, we call them, "George and the Boys."

    Support your local Hells Angels.

  19. John clued me in a little @ Paso, but your writing is NEW to me. John said he was looking as far north as SLO. So, what's the TWO shows on the same weekend in the same town you speek of KIMOSABEE?

  20. Educate us, on the Hells Angels connection/relevance, please. I don't want to be a smart ***, btw.

    dreadman,
this isnt Jersey, when it comes to bikes, a guy can only mean one "affiliation" and it aint the mob. So he says, "its hard to get crazy.... otherwise things could get worse."

read through the posts, whats not to understand. Perhaps my reply was a bit unclear. So, if Harley parts get stolen in Ventura County take the hit and move on. End of story.

Yeah - don't know if they'd be in the same town or not, but SLO is still semi-local for all of us here where the South Coast meets the Central Coast. Last thing I was told is that they're still trying to figure it all out... haven't heard anything new in three weeks or more. You're right - "same town" is probably pure conjecture on behalf of someone closer to John than I am, but I understand that they were still trying for Labor day weekend.

  23. I'm afraid for John and Jenny, that it could be the "too little-too late" scenario. If they take a little time to secure a new location, that leaves very little time to promote. Add to the fact, people not being involved with something like the HAMB might not be in the loop, and go to the normal spot, possibly diminishing the result of John's new deal. It's a slippery slope

Even though John won't allow billet wheels on my Lincoln or Graham(I know, I know but I can't afford to get another set) I will support him and go to his show.

  26. Please wake me up and tell me this is all a bad dream. They got a real good show going and if this is all true then everyone loses! I hope John realises that the Primer Nat's is a success because people like to come to Ventura. I also don't understand why people get mad at a show promoter for wanting to make money. I consider myself a friend of John and Jenny and I know they put their heart and soul as well as god knows how much hard work and hours into the Primer Nats. I only know Dave enough to say hi to but there would be no Primer Nats without him and his contacts with the fairgrounds etc. I don't know any details of what's going on but it's making me feel sick. I have my fingers crossed that they can work this **** out and keep the Primer Nats intact. Maybe Dave could be a silent partner or something. Anything to keep the show intact! I'm not so sure I'll be heading out of town to a worse location.

Its wasnt that the show promoter likes to make money...It was becuase money was missing at the end of the day. They are loking at an airport just south of Ventura....All we can do is spread the word to everyone you know not to support the crook and stay away for the primer Nats and BTtB.
I talk t jen every ther week and Ill try and keep y'all posted!

I talked to Primo about this and he told me John and Jenny are still gonna have a show. The Primer Invitational,or something like that. There's no patching it up...it's over! If you see any Primer Nat's stuff...it's Daves. I'm sticking with J&J's show, whever it is. Good, friendly people.
ALSO heard that the Paso show might be over too! City wants more money, and doesn't want the hotrod crowd anymore. Anybody else hear about this!

    Jenny said it best...

"That guy is all about money..were all about having a big party for our friends!"

I'm Loyal to John and Jenny and will always support them..

once she gets the venue we need to spread the word...

    boycot primer nats!
