Not a big surprise. Fifty years underground takes it's toll on anything.

This is just one of the reasons why I didn't get too super excited about going down to see it. I don't know about ALL of Oklahoma, but the areas I have a layer of clay about 3-4 feet down and much of the water stays above this level. I remember building a pole barn with my dad and actually mixing the concrete for the poles in the holes we dug because the water was leaching in faster than we could bail it out. Must have worked out okay because almost 25 years later the barn is still standing. But still...

I figured this thing would be under water. I just hope its not ruined completely. I'm not going to hold my breath though...

I tried going to the message board on the official Tulsarama event site and it was shut down. Wonder how those plans for the show is going. Even though the car is probably trashed, they should still display it as is...as an archaeological find!

It hasn't been pulled from the ground or unwrapped yet. All of that will happen on Friday as planned. They are down there right now trying to figure out if the platform structure that the car is on is safe enough for lifting her out on Friday or if another one will have to be constructed. The problem is that it has been raining here off and on for the better part of the morning and early afternoon.

Aaah, a '57 Plymouth would have found a way to rust into nothing even in a zero humidity vault in Death Valley...

Yeeeeap. And I'm hoping to buy this car after it's all done. Whatever they want - it's not enough!

Seeing the car in the ground reminds me of an incident when I was a kid. LOL, WHat the heck, it doesn't look like this story is going to turn out well either.

There was this pond where we played baseball. It wasn't real big around but somewhat deep. There was even a foot bridge over it. It was always very murky. One day in the summer of 1977 I believe the water cleared a little and someone spotted something in the water. Upon investigation it was a car.

Tow truck came and pulled it out and still inside was the young couple that had drifted into the pond some years earlier.

The pics of the car down in the ground sort of reminded me of that. LOL

that is a messed up story, sounds like something from an old murder mystery.

to bad no one thought of putting a spy hole on the thing to keep an eye on it and vent gasses. Of course they probably decided against it, because it would cause water to get in there. :)

I hope Buddy Raperton is still laying under the car burn't to a crisp !

  28. Those dumbasses should have known better than to bury a car any damn way. Why take the chance?

If you're going to park a new car for 50 years park that SOB right in the rotunda of the capitol building...

Wonder what the rusted out hull will bring at Barrett-Jackson in Jaunary?

    Crazy Okies...

Ha! They just couldn't wait those last two days, could they? Still, at least they now have the opportunity to save some cash and cancel Boyd's visit!
