Someone here asked for the Vette pic. I didn't want you guys thinking i was just sneaking it in. OOPS
Freakin' 1:1 scale Hot Wheel! Wall to wall Dynamat is goodness. The magazine's will court you indeed.
A few things come into play here. One, as most know, at this stage of the game money starts to thin really bad, and i OWN the above mentioned plan B parts. Also, i'm a "has been" street racer (better than a "never been" i suppose), and am into horsepower. The single quad will outperform multiples. This can be argued all day. But it's fact. I can always go back and add triples or dual quads later. But, in an effort to go forward instead of sideways, plan B may come into play temporarily. Pussy? Wachoo talkin bout Willis?
Hmmmm..My little motor ran 12.60s at teh HAMB Drags and spun the tires till the 1/8 mile mark. Not to mention I drove th ecar 3000 miles to get there..WITH a dual quad intake... Really, you are right, the Offy low rise dual quad is not the best designed manifold. Lots of new technology since they pulled that one out of teh mold.... But, if you change your mind, gimme a holler. Are you gonna make it to teh HAMB Drags? -Abone.
Very cool. I thought about using the Crime Scene Choppers gas filler at one time also. I've got one of those RCI tanks (17" tall one) also and am going to angle the filler. How come you didn't just take the steel filler neck assy. out and cut & angle it over instead of welding a whole new neck in ? Nice job on the car
I really appreciate your offer. As far as where the car goes? I'll cross that bridge when i fall off it
Lookin' good Groucho. That paint color is rather tasty. I see you have one of the RCI tanks in the car - although recent catalogs show it as a fuel cell . . . without foam. Anyway, no criticisms here, but I was wondering if you're mounting the tank via the four tabs and adding straps or just going with the tabs. I'm in the middle of installing an RCI tank like yours in my 32 roadster. With 90# of fuel sloshing around a somewhat vertical tank I'm worried about acceleration and deceleration forces ripping one of the mounting tabs off and possibly opening up the tank. For that reason nylon webbing straps are being added to forestall any such problems. Now I gotta rebuild the filler line, it's 2 1/2" and the tank filler is 1 3/4", but I think I have it figured out so I can go 2 1/2" all the way. 2 1/2" required due to the aircraft filler cap on the left rear deck behind the cockpit rail.
No straps. I think that's recommended for the forces seen in racing conditions. I'll throw $20 at a time in it (5 gallons=maybe 4 inches/no real threat) and fill it for long trips. In which case, the gas will be getting used up before any mishaps i'm sure. Bottom line, i ain't worried about it. Weld in the appropriate neck for your 2 1/2" and just leave the other one capped like i'm doing
It's funny how i put the word F*&K in my title and got the most response out of all my progress threads
Everything is badass. The car, color, wheels, motor (regardless of induction), vette, everything. 100% pure kickass. Awesome.
Groucho, that is one badass ride bro. My wife and I love the green. Like said before it's mouth watering. Is there a build thread goin on, on it? I'd like to see more on it. Great work...
Try these http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=175445&highlight=groucho http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184005&highlight=groucho http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=181865&highlight=groucho
Wow! I know this thread is supposed to be about the 32(which is AWSOME) but man, the Vette looks SO much better with that tire/wheel combo than it did with the one in Hot Rod!!!! I thought you had done the "six taillights" thing on it, I guess not!
that is one of my new favorite cars!!! kinda reminds me of the little green time machine from the sept 96 rod and custom.. thats also my favorite vette, i dont think i like groucho anymore!!!
I have lurked in the other build threads about this car, but am finally going to post in one. I absolutely love the color and alot of the other details are kickin' too. I wish I was out west so I could see this thing in person completed someday. Top notch!
Naww . . . I'd say it's because most of us discovered what you were doing in your earlier posts and now we're hooked. It can be a bit disheartening to put 2-8 hours into a post and watch it disappear in a half hour . . . . . . but that's the chance you take when you post....
I know everyone love the green, but the silver actually brightens up the car as a whole. The silver/chrome frame, suspen and block add so much more to the car than the basic black. Nice job. Are you coming up for Billetproof? Brian
Shit ...I'm gonna have to make a trip to Cali and see this one in person and i will bring my druel bucket so i don't drip anything on the ride. Well done man
Thanks everyone. Billetproof is one i've been wanting to check out. Is there anything Billetproof related going on before or after to make a weekend out of it?
