  1. Where did you figure he's Canadian?Niagra Falls,New York or Ontario?Leave the opinion to the "PERSON" not the country!I'm proud of my country,as you are of yours, but i don't feel a need to insult yours with disrespect! This board has input, from around the globe.Whether or not the HAMB supports something affects us all,as a world wide community."HOT RODDING HAS NO BORDERS",read the member locations. As for Jesse, good luck with the idea but involving the HAMB,no thanks.

Fuck the athletic department! Jesse has already gotten involved in supporting the Industrial Arts programs in several So. Cal. high schools. Face it, the chance to learn these skills in school is dying. To me, shop classes allowed my real creativity to show through, and gave me a direction in life. Otherwise, I might have been a salesman or an engineer or some shit like that.

That said, do I want to vote for proliferation of the HAMB this way? Uh, no.

  3. I vote NO.

Ryan's said it best -- let's not muddy the waters.

I am so sorry Breeder, while it sounds like a blast believe it or not I have already confirmed plans for next May and June and they entale me driving out for the Paso show (approx one week off work), leaving Big Olds there, flying home to work for three weeks then flying back to CA, attending the LA Roadster show Fathers Day weekend, then driving home (alittle over one more week off work).

In 2008 I will have earned 3 full paid weeks off work and I plan to use the time off to my hot rod advantage. I will of course do anything I can to help you promote the event. I just can't see squeezing in another event that time of year for me next year. I'm sorry:eek:

Shall I send the box of tissue now or next May?? xoxoxo;)

BTW, just to keep this post on topic, I think the numbers have already reflected the majority of the HAMB members opinion on the subject. With as many people that have already voted, the percentage is pretty clear and is not apt to change.

    With all respect:
Jesse should go about his philanthropist efforts in the same manner as his wife. By that I mean helping others doesn't need to be tied into a weekly TV show with all the associated hype. Sandra's done great things in Louisiana without making it a circus.
The fact that Jesse is a H.A.M.B. member is cool and I believe his intention with the new show is very sincere. Seems a bit too naiive to think that a week is enough time to turn around hicksville's problems...

I havent seen a thing here this guy has done to help anyone.
No advice, Nothing. he comes in .... Throws a post up about how great he is and what he has done for America and mans common good. And leaves.......
Get over yourself Jesse.. I am not impressed. What makes him think he can save middle America? What on earth can one man do to help the ills of this economy? I'm getting madder by the minute.
I'll get over it..... Dont get me started. :(

    Here we go.

  9. First I would like to say that I voted,"not relevant".This vote doesn't mean that the concept isn't well-intentioned;just that it doesn't have a place on this board.

While JJ is probably a very sincere person(I have never met and/or spoken with him so I can't be 100% sure),there is something in his mannerism(and I had noticed this the first time I saw him profiled)that precludes me taking him seriously. I would be more inclined to get behind this if it were Chip Foose promoting this.He is someone I have met on several occasions he comes across as EXTREMELY sincere.

I would also like to say that I read the responses before I saw the "trailer"or whatever it is called.I don't believe that the lack of enthusiasm on most member's parts made me prejudicial in any way.

The trailer I must say was an exercise in pure unadulterated Hollywood BULLSHIT. The guy doing the voiceover was your stereotypical "used car salesman". That alone would cause me to run very far and very fast away from this.

The only way to solve problems in small town governments is to get involved in them on the ground floor and out there "digging in the trenches" rather than ,"digging mine fields" which is what this scenario would create.

I don't nave a problem with promoting a car show on here;everybody does;whether it be Cobo Hall,Billetproof,or the Hunnert Car Pileup.Even a panel jam that is working for charity is welcomed.

And if you are promoting yourself, then the For Sale areas are available.

Sorry for the long rant;I will now go back to the shop.

I'm all for Jesse getting to be "mayor" of any smalltown U.S.A., but I can't support the HAMB being used in it. I'm kinda feel like the AA, we can't support or endorse anyone or anything because it distracts us from our purpose, I.E. building traditional hot rods. Good luck Jesse.

Finally joined the H.A.M.B. just so I can vote with integrity: No! This would not be a good thing.
But dang, being a member feels pretty cool.

I like Jesse, his skills, SOME of his builds, most of his past shows, BUT to me this sounds like "Look how cool I'am, I can SAVE the world!"
Ever since his shows came out, every damn Yuppie from Cali. to New York thinks they are "BADASS" bikers, an they finally heard names like Bill Hines and the like which now makes them "HotRod" know it-alls!

I say stay Far Far away from this TV Fluff!
We dont need anymore of the "Traditional" style SOLD OUT!
Every thing Vintage is too Damn Expensive already!
    Just one man's opinion!

Im sure we'll all sit through an epidsode or 2 so we can see how JJ handles the problems of all the "hicks". The guys a bad-ass, no denying that! I dont see how supporting yet another reality show can make the Hamb better?

I'm a HELL NO as well.

Go market your self and your ideas elsewhere. The Hamb's amazing how self suffcient it is. How so many artisans and craftsmans can come together at one single place and help others, total strangers out.

WHY would we EVER condone anything else? All for the sake of the rich getting richer and STILL not "payin his dues" as HRLC so eloquently put it?

  19. It looks like he already got what he asked for- promotion of the youtube video.

How can anyone make an informed decision about the TV show trying to help a small town with the lack of information in the video? Please explain how:
    1. A town would relinquish all control to Jesse James for one week.
    2. Jesse James would rally the residents.
    3. Jesse James would pass new laws in one week.
    4. Jesses James would get rid of the troublemakers in one week.
All this while having the motto:
"I don't care if everybody in the town thinks I'm the biggest asshole in the whole world, as long as I fix the problem."

It all seems perfect for a reality TV show, and very far from reality, to me.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

I vote yes. What does it cost the H.A.M.B? If he's doing it for a good cause and it's not some stupid ass show about some celebrity bike that most people could car less about. I.E. (Shaq Oneil, Kid Rock, or whoever) then i say do it. I'll chip in if it helps someone or some town. Why is there a discussion? Jesse James is a bad ass! plain and simple. Why wouldn't the H.A.M.B want to help. Gets recognized! What the fuck has Boyd coddington done for the H.A.M.B? THANKS JESSE JAMES!!!!FROM THE ZILLAS

I hate to say it.........but, I think that the HAMB is much larger than the "Monster Garage" show.......I vote no thanks, because once a bunch of "TV" guys start throwing idea's or "cutting room floor" stuff, the cool stuff will go to the trash and all of the Old School Rods guys will sneak over to the "Fight Club" place......as the wife used to call it........

If you know about the HAMB, you are the HAMB.........if you have no clue.....oh well.

    HELL NO!!!!

If you let Jesse take the HAMB with him.... you will lose valuable members of this site.

When did Jesse write a tech article on here last? The guy has no valuable educated advice, his shows are full of "advisors" and he's the puppet, most of his parts are already pre fabricated.

There are people on this site with more character, more talent, and more brains with LESS money that don't need a TV show to boost their self esteem in life.

Do you want SO CAL Speed Shop ($$$$) or
SO WHAT (the anti-small grass roots man)

This is what it comes down to....

In all reality, this shouldn't even be an issue on the HAMB... Jesse doesn't do traditional hot rods...his forte' is custom motorcyles....go to that forum and find a flock .....

Another shit reality show.......................I wouldn't want anything to do with it.............now I'm gonna go read a Hot Rod thread....

  25. Put me down for a big NFW.

The premise of the show is just phenomenally stupid. HAMB needs to steer well clear of this stinker.[/COLOR]

Dude.....are you kidding me? Despite the drama, he's a pretty bad ass fabricator.

I voted no....because it seems like a really corny tv show. And I can't make the connection with a traditional style car show in a town that isn't the least bit interested in traditional cars. They'd probably hate us after the 2 or 3 guys who always go to far start doing burnouts on their town square.

I think Jesse wants to use the HAMB name to help promote his intentions,i say this because,i figure the HAMB is pretty well known in rodding circles, there are alot of talented painters here, customizers, fabricators, good mechanics, good tech advice, damn nice cars, people from coast to coast who become friends, share info,so what better name for Jesse to have behind him,i am voting no,i figure if the HAMB is used, there will be a influx of people on here just to say their on the HAMB like Jesse is,i think we would have a bunch of punks coming on here talking about their civics and eclipses and just getting on to knock the old rods and customs.but, thats my 2 cents

He is a good fabricator...ON THE SHOW... but I've known him for 15 years at swap meets, an todays he's all "SHOW" , he's not welding and fabricating every day. There are custom bike builders here in So Cal that are way more talented than JJ and they don't even give a fuck, they don't even have a sign on their shop.

When you've lived in TV Land, you'll understand it...TV is for ratings, and all you see are all the "good shots" you don't see all the mistakes and Jesse throwing punches, etc......

Thanks to all the NO votes

Echo that. Hits me wrong. JJ is may be a nice guy. I don't know him personally. But I have to vote against using the HAMB in any way that furthers his "celebrity". And that is what this is most about.
