I saw this on Craigslist Kansas City:
    http://kansascity.craigslist.org/car/348904790.html

I checked it out, and it's solid all right. I had wanted an early F1 for my S-10 chassis, but have found this. Am I getting into a "hard-to-find-parts" situation with regard to emblems, etc? True, the F1 is an easier build, with tons of repop parts, but am I getting in over my head?

It was driven until the 80s, and al the bearings are fine (it's a roller). There's no interior, drivetrain, etc, but it's VERY solid. It's too good to pass up. but my heart may not be in this build. - it has a rare 9' bed!

If I get this (here in Kansas City) would anybody want to trade me an F1 for it? Maybe some labor/body work/paint on my '60 Cadillac? Some media blasting, perhaps?

Somebody's got to be interested. Make no mistake, this is a "should I buy this/am I nuts if I do" post, not something that belongs in the classifieds. But if someone else mentioned they were interested, I was just throwing out there that I'd be willing to pick it up for them and trade. if so, email me - my PM inbox is filling up.

1941 international pickup - solid body - no motor or trans.

solid western pickup,no motor or transmission. would make a great street rod project. it is a rolling chassis and body only.

I think you'll find that has a giant stack of springs under the tail on each side. That rare 9' foot bed usually indicates a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.
But it has alook and you wouldn't use all that chassis stuff anyway.

Have you seen this truck. I see this guy selling solid cars and trucks all the time for very low prices. If so what else does he have laying around.

if its not what you really want, haven't you answered your own question?

    how does that saying go.

'cheap is not always good , and good is not always cheap'

accessibility may be one thing, but in 5 years time is that still going to keep you happy?

Here's a few places a dude that sells stuff like CNC hood hinges for these on eBay sent me for parts:

    http://www.oldihc.org/users/jacob/

    http://www.patwalshrestorations.com/IHC_K-KB_1-5.html

It looks like what I'd need is there. This guy seems to "run across" stuff all the time. If you're interested, PN me for his number. He's made me an offer of $400, AND HE'LL DRIVE IT 45 MINUTES TO MY HOUSE, FREE!

The screw has been turned, and I may not be able to pass it up, as for that price I have something I could at least trade for an F1 or parts later on down the line.

    Seriously, am I crazy here?

I have a 49' IHC that I am building but I have built my own frame and suspension. basically The only thing I used fron the truck was the cab, hood and grille. Now that I think about it, it doesnt even look like a 49' International any more. Hmmm. But mine wasn't as nice as this one. But they can defiantely be made to look pretty cool, and just think how different an IHC is compared to a Ford or Chevy. It would really stand out. :)

Yea I've got the same problem. I ran across a '50 willy's truck yesterday solid but no bed. $400. What to do? What to do? Does not run.

If you gotta ask "Should I buy it?" then the answer is NO. You know when you want something and when you don't. **OR** If you are that impressionable, quickly get over it so you don't regret the purchases you make. "Buyers remorse" just plain sucks and having to stare at some P.O.S. rusted hulk in your yard doesn't help.

i'd give $400 for it for sure. but i have been known to make a few bad choices! see if he'll deliver it to california for free too :)
it's probably worth more in scrap if you want to go that route. part it out and scrap the hulk.

I think I'll put my S-10 side-by-side with it and do some measuring. I think that will tell the tale as to whether or not it's a good S-10 conversion or not.

It looks pretty big, and I'm unsure as to whether it'll fit on my S-10 frame. That's one of the main reasons I'm wary.

Anyone put one of these on an S-10 before?

Man I must have run across 20 or so barn finds this week. I just keep making note of them in my GPS and move on writing down price and contact info. I haven't found "the one" yet but I know I will.

I sure have found a lot of potentials out there but nothing that screams "buy me" yet.

Surely someone on the HAMB has done an International-to-S-10 Swap...

    Anybody?

There is a 1947 KB-2 from New Mexico that is on a 1980's S-10 long bed frame and he said it was a near bolt on, the S-10 rear cab mount is in the right spot just to low on the frame, i looked the truck over really good at the Rocky Mountian street Rod Nationals and it looked like it fit really well and pretty simple to do. The truck you are looking at is a K3 1ton, it will have a 130" wheel base. I'am putting a 1937 D-2 short bed on a cut down 1987 S-10 x-cab chassis and so far the IH body fits really nice on the S-10, once i get this one done i'am going to put my 1941 K1 shortbed on one.

  18. There's a nice International pickup down the street and I've been wondering what year it is. It looks close to this one with the cool back window shape, and the very cool small side windows. It has a lot more style than the boxy Intertrashionals:p.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

Do like I did on my 39. Shorten the frame, box it, front sub it and shorten the box.

BinderRod, not much new on mine, Just haven't had the time or moneys. Your frame looks good, nice job with the subframe install, i wish the 39 D-2 i bought from Oklahoma with a camero stub looked half as good as yours, it was so bad i just ended up cutting the frame up.

Sounds like you're the man to talk to!

    Shoot me an email sometime.

Tell me, is an S-10 frame too small for this K3?

    No doubt, dude!

What I'm really after here is whether or not it's a mistake to put this on an S-10 frame.

I posted this too late last night for it to get noticed this morning. I need to move on this this weekend or so -

Is it a mistake to try to put this 1-ton truck on an S-10 chassis? This is what will make or break the deal.

I don't know anything about them trucks but its a pretty cool looking rig, if its all there and its not your last 400 dollars I'd get it! you can pioneer swapping it over to the s10 frame, takes lots of pictures:)

ask the guy to measure the track width if its close to your s10 width I don't see why it can't be done, the box (bed) can always be shortened

Buy the damn thing allready. Even if you dont build it, think of the trade/parts sales possibilities for a $400 investment.
