Not mine, but I like it. The principles are important . patrik's Volvo 200-Series: "Green Danger" http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2662094 Is it a rod or not?
There´s an amazing amount of labour and skills in this car, I appriciate that.Maybe it´s even fun to drive. But in my eyes something not less important is missing: taste. It looks as if it was well built but it´s so ugly only a mother could love it... and that just doesn´t go along with that positive image I have of Hot Rods. Just my 2 cents...
I`ll bet its from Sweeden where 16 year olds can drive those frame chopped speedplumbed (30 km/t ) ugly rods called epa tractor. Maybe someone from Sweden knows moore.....
Dunno why but I'd call it more a Street Machine than a hot rod. It's in a grey area isn't it? a lot of cool work on the front end, but the back really spoils it to me - far too modern.
There's one of those a mile from my house. I can't count the number of times I thought that it would be fun to do something to. If anyone id interested, I will stop and get info and pix. I do know it's available and for sale. Vance
Why is this any less a hot rod than some of the rusty POS trucks that raved over here on the HAMB? Just because it's painted?
Hell yeah someone took the time to make it something cool,,so just by that,,sides who's to say what is and what is'nt
Hmm... I clicked on your link to the car in Cardomain and a program started to download automatically to my computer!! :-S Luckily I am on a Mac... But as I can see the car is from Sweden, I have a few Amazones and 544´s. Wouldnt refer to them as rods, but more as a custom... I liked it way more before it was customized though...
Cool work. I especially like what's been done to the hood/fenders... The box however looks like a tupperware container. I think some classier rear lights and I'd call it a hot rod Flatman
I can dig it. That kermit color gotta go. Hey, Whats long and green and smells like pork? Kermit's finger! Ha ha!
Other than the bed I dig it. That rear end ...well, it's up to you. Hot Rod like a Willys pickup but with custom touches to boot.
Not the usual car from which to build a hot rod. That said, traditional hot rodders and drag racers from 60s used small foreign cars as the starting point for many a Gasser. Small, light cars that you could stuff a BIG V8 into. No, the color is not "traditional", its more 80s pastel pearl influenced. Yes, it took a lot of work and the quality is up there for a home-built. And its much better looking than a lot of POS cars (rat rods) I've seen around here. I'd consider it a hot rod. The guy took what he had to work with and built a good looking, usable performance car. That seems to be what all the old American hot rodders did.
I like it..and really appreciate the effort, but damn! I've been looking for an old Volvo stationwagon for along time.....
I think it would have been better as a woody wagon, including shortened 46 Ford grill bars and a surf board strapped on top.
I'd call it a Croatian Custom. I think the round headlights made it look more like a hot rod among some other things mentioned above. I'd love to see this guy turned loose on some American iron.
The color and El Camino tailights kinda grates with the rest of the car. Otherwise, it turned out pretty well.
I wouldnt have made it a truck, but its not mine, now is it? Itll never haul anything back there, so why bother? However, it couldve hauled a couple of more friends with just a mild chop. What he did to the front is very nice indeed though. Very talented indeed. I like it, and would be proud to have done that good of work. Id call it a custom.
I was told many years ago that era volvo is a 2/3 scale of a 46 ford 2 door sedan. I think he did a good job till he got to the bed. Id call it a custom also.
