No,man i wish you hadnt ask... , its killing me to look at this car every day with the new engine seting on the stand next to the car. Been a little busy with work and with the HA/GR dragster. ( next week is our first run at Goodguys). As soon as Goodguys is over this car becomes top job. Have to remove body one more time, install engine ( may add aux transmission as well) and finish disc brake package etc. Thanks for the incouragement !!!
Well everytime I look at your little T I am inspired to build one for myself. It just looks like too much fun. I'd use a newer engine probably. Easier for a tenderfoot.
OK, we are back on target. Me and Lindros worked this evening removing the body and installing the new hot tested engine off the dyno. Will update as the week goes along.
Glad this thread came back up- I missed it first time around. I just love this car and it looks kinda familiar (see my avitar Mine's still a dream though. Can't wait to see the finished car.
Kinda had a busy day today with other issues etc ( my aluminum radiator in my Model A was falling out. three broken tabs out of four. Been driving it for about three years etc. I split the radius rods on the t, removed them from torque tube and added heim ends etc ( Thanks to Donnie and Cliff at DB Sprinters ) Great job and fast etc. I made the side brackets and have been really trying to keep this little car all T ( Simple T) Mounted the exhaust pipes for the split manifold and rechecked the front ride height. May need a spacer on top the front spring befroe we are done ?? Tomorrow should get a full day and evening on the car. Would like to drive tomorrow evening etc ???? Pan drain is welded up and relocated to rear of pan. Will also build a skid plate .
dang, i dont know what it is; but something sure "speaks" to me about your little ride. great work. ncg
One of my engine builder friends ( only T engines) has a clayton dyno. I will ask him the torque numbers etc. They dyno each engine for a while under load etc and then remove the short pan and check the mains and rods etc. Nice feature from a builder. When ya get the motor back they are typically making 20-22 hp. Ok for a stock t. Ready to run complete. This engine has a stipes 280 camshaft. larger valves, high comp pistons, bosch distributor (VW) ,aluminum cylinder head 7-1, kevlar bands and t-400 clutches in the trans etc.
Well one more day and off to the Road Rocket Rumble ( kinda cheating as it is just a few blocks from my house) This little car has just flat out kicked my ass this week! Took almost all my available time ( i guess we call that thrashing?). Yesterday and last night i got the missing bolts in the car, added 1 1/2 quarts of ford 600w for the rear axle, figured i hadnt installed the rear axle keys and checked them ( and installed them this time), installed the cool little ( Steve Long ) radiator, and fired the engine. WOW does this little dude sound good with the langs dual manifold and split pipes. Kinda sound like a 6 cylinder on 4 cylinders ?? Put the body on last night ( at least 5 times ) and every thing was wrong. Had to final trim the panels for the langs manifold and the side radius rods. No problem will make it right later, by the way the wife has taken a liking to this little car and thinks it ought be painted a color ??? Got a few items ( like a ignition switch) to finish in the morning and should be able to take a test drive. Will add pics at the show etc......
It IS painted a color. In fact it's painted TWO colors...cream and burgandy. Check! It's painted a color. Make with the pics
This car is even cooler in person. So many neat details and the car is incredibly clean. Can't wait to hear it saturday! Hope it doesn't get too wet.
Absolutely!!! Please don't paint that car another color. I wish I could see it in person. I've followed it's build from the first post and love everything about it.
WELL ITS A RIDE !!! Been taking rides all morning just to test the car, had the floor board out 6 times to get thebands adjusted etc. Ign toggle switch ( new jap unit) broke and replaced. Now the starter ( new jap one) needs replaced as welll. Car seems to run cool and rides out pretty damn good. Will drive to the Roadrocket rumble tomorrow a few miles away. Been raining in Indy i even stopped on a test drive and talked to a damn penquin! He said it was the coolest car he had ever seen!!!! By the way when a car door is lower than a penquins head thats pretty low. No bags for me ??????
Cool dude. Can't wait to see it. I think your wiring guy was a moon pie short when he wired up your car.
Hadn't spotted this thread before, and just read it start to end. That's a cool lil car you got there, Bubba. Nice to see something other than the normal trad parts used. Keep us informed as the de-buggin sessions go as you get a few miles on it. Mart.
Well between friday and sat going to the Road Rocket Rumple i logged approx 50 miles or so on the T. Car was well recieved at the Rumble ran out very well. I had figued the car was too low ( and may be) but made it the 3 or so miles at 40-50 mph with on a couple minor bumps etc. Engine ran well and it appears the radiator is cooling the car pretty well. Slight leak at rear of water pump but not bad enough to loose a bunch of coolant.. Next step is to remove body and have Cliff ( paint dude) fix all the fit and finish stuff i messed up getting every thing to work. Hook up the disc brakes with lines and a master cylinder. Add the lower windshield frame and glass. Check rear spring alignment ( looks like it is kinda binding in the spring pocket). Have 29 Sedan man do a new final (i promise) floor. The car is a blast to drive and is very comfortable to sit in. T's are like VW beetles everyone likes them ( even the guys that say they dont ) More as time gos on.............
Bubba, That car just makes me smile.............I still want a ride and see you operate that thing. tim
