We have a 59 Edsel we want to paint..we (my wife) have kinda settled on jet black with turquoise accent, side stripe and roof. There is nothing subtle about Edsels and this combo would'nt look out of place, might be a little rad for 55 Chevy..Have you ever seen copper that has oxidized? it turns a nice turquoise....

GM had at least 4 shades of "Green" and a few Blues so If you are talking about the one that most '57 Chevy Convertibles are "restored" to along with the Ivory White of the time, or the Green that is only slightly "Greener," I think you could do a Zuni Indian Jewelery thing with it by combining it with a Coral Red and Silver, or let the stainless be the silver part.

I did a 79 Ford truck, trailer and forklift of mine in Seychelles Isuzu green (turquoise) with black and red accents. Looked real sharp!

What about just doing a shade of the same color but either lighter or darker by a few shades. The chrome might set it off real nice.

Here's my Ford. I've been kicking around the same paint ideas too. I think it's light blue, but it's been called everything from green to teal, to turquiose. I haven't really seen any other paint schemes I like. The local tire place has a wheel computer that has cars in it, the idea is that you pull up your car, change the color to match yours, adjust the ride height, and you can see what different tire wheel combos look like on it. For some odd reason it has a 58 Ford with my trim style in it. I spent some time in there looking at different color schemes. I think I finally settled on doing the same colors, but to redo the white in metal flake when the time comes.

  7. Black, Dark grey metallic, some shades of Forest green have a blue tinge to them, kinda like a darker version of the turquoise.

    or (said with a lisp)
I find that a white t-shirt that shows off the midrift with a nice rainbow applique on the front... Looks FAB-U-LOUS with turquoise. :D

Turquoise can be a tough match, other than white, cream, or black.
Some colors called turquoise run toward the blues and others toward the greens. And the intensity of the colors should be the same or close, otherwise one color can dominate the car.

One way to get a nice match is to pull factory two tones from another manufacturer. For example, check out mid-fifties Mercury or Dodge. If you find a mix you like, PPG can match the colors in a modern paint. Then the colors will look right for the period, but be sufficiently different on your car.

Turquoise with a metallic charcoal grey, like a mid 80's Chevy Wrangler truck grey, would do it. Or go different - black on the main body, turquoise on the rear 1/4 and roof

  21. Not many colors work well with Turquise - black, grey, white, cream all stated. Depending on the shade, some other pastels work - I've seen a few cars in turquise and purple that worked okay. Dark blue might work.

Best bet would be to go to a paint store, get a bunch of sample cards, bring them home and see what you like.

What were the tri-tones in 58 Impala interior combos that were turquise? Probably black seats with turquise, grey and white inserts.

Get the color wheel out and see what is opposite turqoise. That usually works.

I like the cream idea, or almost like a khaki color.

go with the cream or a light shade of brown, a lot of different shades of brown go well with the turquoise
