first off my name is david and im a huge fan of the "rat rod" traditonal rod scene. unfortunatly no project as of now. for those of you that are in the area and may not know but americruse is coming up and i would realy try to make it. its a decent size show put on by rod and custom magasinze. and for those of you who appreicate all things wicked and rusty check www.killbillet.com its a great forum that concentrates on the tipic of rats. heres the link : www.rodandcustommagazine.com/hotnews/0704rc_2007_americruise/
please leave the rat at the door. back to americruise. A damn good time, with a good mix of cars and a lot of driving fun!
What's a "tipic" of rats...is that more than one...??? Oh, and while you're explaining that one...explain HOW "rat rods" are traditional...or do you even know the meaning of the word "traditional"...??? R-
Why would you post on a site,to promote another site?If you like www.killbillet.com so much, why come over to the HAMB?Unless it's to stir up ****?Yes,Americruise is a great idea with a variety of types of cars, for a variety of enthusiasts. That said, hopefully there will be lots of "traditional hot rods"taking part,so more people will learn the differance between"traditional" and "rat rods". I see you've just joined the HAMB,take some time to read lots of the posts and educate yourself as to what a traditional rod is.Hopefully you will realize that a better constructed car is more interesting than a slapped together "ratrod".They also aren't just a trend that will dissappear when the crowd moves on to the next fad.
sorry about saying traditional. i actully emailed a guy on here telling him i was intrested in buy a rat rod project and he corrected me saying that i shouldnt say that here because i would get this kind of feedback. well for those who were irritated by my grammer i apologize but you really need to find somthing better to do. and killbillet is a small site that it would be nice to have some of the amazing support of this fourm over there. obviously didnt get you guys attention but maybe acouple that are tired of looking at you ******** chrome cars. and there are traditional rods over there with pretty paint just like here. and last as far as im concered there will always be some ***et orileys racer who slapps **** on his car or does some half***build. just so happens that this new cool fab of building requires somone to build from the frame up not changeing the oil and plugs on some 1970 pickup like you some of you did, thus there is more room for error. please dont ***ume that they are just ragity old junkers. sorry for wasting your time.......
I guess I'll take a little lead on this. I looked at your profile and see that you are a young'in 22 and new to the "traditional" seen. Older "traditional" guys first and foremost are gonna see if you can take some **** kid by busting your balls about your terms and see if you say "oh" ok I saw "rat rod" in the magazines and thought it applied to all old hot rods..... ain't no use taking your red wagon and going home if you can take some **** kid....that's what their checking to see..... You're not wasting anyones time kid- trust me - you just need some guidance on the 'traditional" rods...... See - we need kids like you because when enough of our "traditional" rod guys take a dirt nap - someone youngin's will hopefully keep that "traditonal" era of Hot Rodding going or heaven forbid a "traditonal" rod will end up being a 76 Vega Cosworth or something. Let me put it to you this way kid, to really give you a education in terms you can understand, to some old "traditional" rodders, saying "rat Rod" is like saying your mother or sister or both are doing all the boys down at the garage. They get a bit upset. It's like calling a blown 69 Camaro a Hot Rod instead of the correct term "Street machine" Don't be afraid at 22 years old to ask questions first to learn. It's better to ask a young dumb question first than blurt out the commercial version of a "traditional" Hot Rod. Stick around kid - we'll need somebody to carry our caskets someday. Oh- yea - I'll chew your tail on one thing...... Leave the other sites outtta here .... mentioning for conversation sake ain't gonna work... hang around and see what happens and learn and have fun. I am from the midwest ,with a 8th grade edumacation. This guy's grammer(spelling) makes even me cringe. You will not get anywhere in life by bucking the system. I attend the Buick sites, the Mopar sites and other's including the Sheep Make Great Lovers site. Always remember where you are and never promote someone or something that isn't acceptable at that site. If you want to be a part of the festivities ,ask dumb questions(like I do ) until you figure out the direction . If the direction fits your personality, then by all means jump in with both feet. The only shortcut I know is **** pictures of your girl or wife. I will be waiting on your pic's. Hope this helps.
Wow, quite an at***ude for a guy that just walked in the shop. You obviousely have done VERY little browsing of the HAMB to see what its all about.
Hey Caddy Coffin...I'll be at Americruise, come look me up and we'll talk a bit...I'll be driving the world's wildest '57 Chevy, and it has a HAMB sticker in the window with my user name...stop by, introduce yourself, grab a soda, sit down and we'll discuss the difference between a "rat rod" and a "trad rod", and kustoms (note that is spelled with a "K"), and everything in between...I'll give you a real hot rod education in a couple of hours... What are you driving there...a Caddy...??? Then you and I have something in common...I own three of 'em... R-
You got to be able to talk the lingo in order to get by on this side of the border, that's all don't take it to heart. Rags
If you're smart you'll look up 40StudeDude. He's been around and knows a lot, and know a lot of people. And for the record, I happen to love shiny paint and chrome. All the famous original "traditional" cars had them. And they look pretty.
ok so I have a dumb FNG question. I know my Buick is traditional but what would my henry J be????? I know its well built safe and fast, 6 point roll cage drive shaft loop new front end all original, Narrowed 8" rear end 3.55 gears with mini spool ect. primered black with flames. I've been told both "Rat" and "traditional" your opinion good and bad appreciated
Kill billet doesnt get the response this place does not because nobody knows about it, rather because it ****s.
Funky-***! But with a big scoop of 'Cool' Whip! It's like your car should be,... yours. As to the topic of this thread,...CornCobCoupe's right on. There is no such thing as "tradition" without those to carry on the tradition. A "Rat" sits under the hood of a muscular, mid to late 60's Chevy and, on oc***ion, any variety of street machines and/or customs(with a C); it should not be related to a tradition Hot Rod.
somthing i should have put in here to begin with is that those of you who do come to americruise in lincoln i would check out the musuem at speedway. alot of pretty cool stuff there
just wanted to remind everyone that this is going on this weekend and to those who will be here and perhaps intrested in buying there is a guy trying to sell a 1929 hudson es*** 4 door in greate shape for 1500$. he bought acouple years ago from a guy who was restoring it and decided to sell. this guy who bought it was deployed oversees and now that hes home lost intrest. has lots of extra parts and lots that have been reconditioned. for anyone serously intrested his number is 1-402-783-0502
A buddy suggested i take a look over at killbonehead. Those jagoffs threw me out in less than 24 hours. Seems language is more important than hot rods. Called me "potty" mouth. ****ing funny. Anyway, poke around here and i'll think you'll see some cool ****
Yeah, those ****ers tossed me too. Stupid thing was, i didn't get warned about any infraction of the rules. **** em. They all worry about the wrong things. We're car guys, not choir boys.
