Wow! You both look good (and I mean that in a gentleman way). That Horn button looks pretty damn good too! Thanks for sharing and good luck with hooking up the other two carbs.

Hey, are you going to put that same spade on the firewall where we discussed putting it? It would be nice to maybe have a decal made??

'I guess I'm not that "bad" after all'

We LIKE bad girls and you are definitely not a beast! Quite contrary!

  10. Faith, that is Awesome! Is that a '53 chevy wheel? You have a keen eye.

In response to the tire question; bias plys rely on air pressure to keep the tread flat on the ground, if you have too much the contact area will be narrow, too little and they wear the edges. My guess is the fronts being smaller will need 30#, maybe as much as 32#. To determine the rear, lay a little rubber and go disturb it with your shoe, it will dust off areas with less pressure and probably stay put where the contact is heavy, so if the middle sticks but not the edges, let some air out. I'd start with 28#'s.

Hope this helps, and great to have you!

are you the girl I see running around van nuys sometimes with goggles on?

  12. I met you at the GNRS,when you were putting the sand on the floor around your car. My 49 Merc was in the Suede Palace, also.

    No dear,

Since we have to shoot that scene again, I decided to change the location of spade. After talking to several artists, they all said that painting it in the center of the firewall would be very challenging because it is not flat and has those protruding ridges. I started worrying that someone might paint something and it not come out right... And me having to repaint the firewall? the mere thought of EVER painting again is giving me nausea, so I figured, "change of plans" let's put the spade elsewhere, and the horn button came to mind.

In real life it looks better than on the photo by the way.

I have already updated the script with any mention of the spade on the firewall and adapted it to the new location of trademark.

So we are cool - and no , no spades on firewall. I'll give you the new version of the scene, not much changed really, when we set out to film it again.

I was told it was a 54 Chevy.

THank you for the info on the tire pressure etc... Although as of yet noone has answered my question about whether the tire pressure can increase, or decrease the tracking of bias plys tires... And if so in what way?

Sounds very probable, I work in Sherman Oaks so I oftentimes cross Van nuys. I also used to wear my WWII aviator cap with googles all the time, but since I cut my bangs and no longer have those hair in my eyes, I have been driving without the cap lately.

Where did you see me and was I driving the deuce?

Ah... The sand... All 400 lbs of it.... We had fun creating that little beach.... And it ended up lending us a picture in Drive! Magazine so that was cool... Cleaning it up was less fun but hey, that's what shop vacs are for... ;)

Kind of off-topic, but this car looks so incredibly similar to the "$11k 'glass roadster" in the July hotrod, it's unreal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to detract from either. They both have the classic hiboy stance, but it's just funny how closely they're related... Three-pot sbc... ramshorn exhaust manifolds... Ribbed valve covers... not-exactly-gloss black with maroon interior... Red steelies with full wheel trim...(I know those last two aren't hard to find, but c'mon, the similarities are undeniable) Lemme tell you, you're better lookin' than either one of the guys in the hotrod article!

That's one classy roadster, I'm sure it's a blast to drive!

I thought I saw this car before, driving along the highway someplace. So I took a photo of it and then I seen the car again cruising along some street in town and took another photo of it.Then on Sunday I seen it driving back to L.A. but it was too dark to take photo's then. And now it's a movie star car. Is this the California Chick? I think I downloaded the photo's,if not I'll try again.Keep on roddin'. P.S.cool car too.

Your car is too cool! Your attention to detail has paid off. Keep up the good work.

We'll keep an eye out for the movie and more pics and info on your website.

I was hoping to see you at LARS. I'm "The Guy At El Mirage" with the coupe?
You made the whole trip pretty neat for me. I've never ridden around with a filmaker before. After seeing Highboy on your site I wouldn't have recognized it with the shiny paint and bias plys. It looks better than ever. Hope to see you at Bonneville. I'll recognize you car this time... Good to see you on the H.A.M.B.

Well geese, if I had known I could have the same roadster for only $11,000.00

But seriously I have not seen that magazine's article, can you post a photo of it here so I can see it? Does it have buick finned drums? Guide headlights? Any original parts?

:D :D That's too funny, YOu're the second person TODAY who says this to me. This guy stopped me at the donnut store this morning and he said: "My wife and I keep seeing you everywhere, we saw you here and then we saw you there and then we saw you there... My wife thinks you're the coolest. I'm glad to finally get to see yoru car up close, it's real neat... etc etc ..."

So I guess I must be driving the deuce too much or something cause everyone sees me everywhere :) ... Or maybe I do have a clone??

Oh but PS yes I am the california chick you ahve been seeing.

Oh yes, I kinda missed the LARS... Eric came down from Santa Cruiz to audition for the film and this took priority over everything else that week-end. Guess I'll catch the next one.

call me when you come into town, we'll hit BBB.

The shot of the three of you guys driving down the lake came out real good and will more than likely end up in the film somehow... I also filmed Doug (the guy with the primer black coupe who rode with us that day) doing donuts in the dirt sunday late afternoon after everyone else had left. Here he is (fun stuff!):

Thanks for the data - It is very useful. Did lowering the pressure alter the tracking at all? Did it help it or make it worse?

  27. Have I got this right?Thats you in the leapord skin pants ,thats your hotrod and you cruise the drive-ins.I gotta get my head round this one

  28. There are two girls in '32 roadsters on Van Nuys?

In FL we'd be doing good to have 2 girls in 32 roadsters in the state.:D

My rod with bias plys tends to follow the rain grooves on the freeway. Also, if the groove veers, but the road goes straight, you fight the wheel to bring it back. Use to it now, so I don't think about it.
