Here's a few shot's I took at the Walter P Chrysler Museum, first weekend in June. Annual show sponsored by the Chrysler Employee Motorsports Assn (yes, there are a few gearheads left). Special feature this year were the AFX cars. As far as I know, all of these are the real deal.

    Enjoy.

  14. THAT'S the kind of stuff that dominated my 1st Hot Rod magazines. It's etched in my brain as thee best era for drag racing. Gassers, A/FX, early funny cars, FED's, Fuel Altereds

    Groucho, I agree.

Unfortunately, I'm not old enought to have experienced it first hand. The ingenuity and creativity are incredible, along with the excitement added by a certain level of disregard for one's own safety.

Modern drags are too boring and too corporate. The action might be ok in the pro-heads-up ranks, but brackets and indexes are a snooz. And everything looks like it came out of the same catalog.

I believe that is the Golden Commandos A/FX. I talked to the owner of the black survivor sitting at the end of the row earlier that week. He mentioned it would be at the show along with the original engine.

I took these in 2005 at the Cruisin' For a Cure show in Orange County, CA. Picture quality on the vid isn't very good, but it sure sounds bitchin'!

  22. THAT'S the fucking shit, right there.
Here is an altered wheelbase C/A Valiant known as The Spy Machine which was from West Vancouver and use to run at the old Mission Raceways and over at Van Isle Dragstrip on Vancouver Island. The car started out as a 4dr but was made to a 2 dr with an altered wheel base.
