All this punching talk is funny, im the only person who has punched anyone at heavy rebel in the last three years, and that was the bouncer, who was taking money from all the cool tough greasers, he found one that was not easily persuaded into parting with cash.
If we're gonna start throwing punches I'm going to bust out the pictures of my Hairy, glaring white, fat ass in the mud pit. And I know no-one here wants to see those Primo
So, Primo, talk a little about what this deal is like. Are there bands? Is it a park and walk or is there some cruising? Nightclubs that continue the party at night? It looks like there's no year restrictions. I'm trying to hijack your thread back on topic here. hahaha
dont do that chili phil some one might want to punch you next..although not me..got over that stuff in high school..
It is a three day gig, over 70 bands, car and bike show on sat, they have its in the old courthouse right in downtown, its three stories, they have a stage on the main floor, and two downstairs, not many clubs to close, but most party after at the marriot across the street, this year was the biggest so far, but the downside is its the same bands every year, and no real big name acts. It`s like 70 bucks for the weekend, wet wifebeater contest, most beer, guitar and bass contest, pretty good time, not to many assholes causing trouble, like i said the only fight in three years was me, so the general crowd is good.
Sounds like a good time. I understand the deal about the same bands every year. Most shows have that. I must have seen the Hot Rod Trio a zillion times. Still, they DO support the car people, so that's cool. I like the circus sounding part, with the wet wifebeater contests and burn outs. I also like the fact that all sorts of stuff is invited. I admit to a certain snobishness regarding my taste in styles of cars, but I like it when the 'chainers, 4x4 dudes and racers and hot rodders all gather at the same shows. I feel sort of left out that MonsterFlake hasn't offered to punch me.
I like punch when its spiked with bad drunk person stuff that comes in a funny little wide bottle. Sometimes it even has a baby worm in it.
The '40 gasser was built in California back in '72 and for the most part has not been touched since, except for engine changes. It runs a BBC with a tunnel ram. Runs extremely well. He races it regularly. I hope Silhouettes57 is kidding. I know the owner personally and I think it's a kick ass car. BloodyKnuckles
This has to be one of the best reading threads i've read in a while!! I laughed out loud at work a couple of times... Mike BTW metalflake when are you going to be in to OC area? I know a kid that sold a bad ass chevy to buy a 66 caddy that needs a punch or two.... haha just kidding brandon
hey man, glad ya made it out. We had a great year, and truely appreciate those that came out to the car show, as well as the event itself. The Car show if free, drive and show, pre-68 (no Camaro or Mustangs/Muscle cars unless really damn different). the S-10 sneaked in with about 6 other customs, all primered according to the gy that admited to letting him in...lol. Fuck it, he had balls..lol. I know a old mechanic friend of mine park his old Cougar hes been building in the show, too, but we arent that stuck on it at HRW. Its al about having a great time. From the car show, to the event, to the contests. Hope ya'll had fun, thats why we do it. Thanks to the Saints for putting hte show together this year. To respond to the rest: This year we had over 30 new bands play. We always have about that many new bands, actually. There are about half repeats, since they are crowd favorites and they bring a good attitude to the party. Thats part of the deal of playing: If your a band, and you show up thinking your shit doesnt stink, we wont re-book you, regardless of your draw. We don't book big name bands for a reason: We built the event as a way for touring, working bands to tour, meet new bands, gain new fans and make contacts, as well as a great time for people to see new music, meet new/different people and make contacts. Hope that answers some questions.
I had lots of fun getting on stage with the 7 shot screamers, unfortunatly the wife got ill so we had to head back to fla early on sat, but my ugly merc made the 900 mile trip with no problems.
