    I'm all for hydro's...

Some of the coolest lo-lo's I've seen were in my home city (albuquerque NM) That said I got shot at drivin my 50 chevy down Central Blvd one night (circa 1992) from a group of cats in a imp of some sort (didnt really stick around to see what kinda car it was)

WOW, of all people, I sure didn't think chili phil would be supporting something that I had said!!
What I said I think is true!! sorry if you don't like that tjm73, but like the radio has other stations, you can also click other posts! I do believe Ryans start was a huge interest in low-riders, as probably most of us who lived in the 70's and 80's decades of growing up,??? growing up yeah right, I worse intentions than some of the brats in my neighborhood!! If we are having this much fun with cars I don't think ANY of us are growing up... Peace all...Ken

  5. Don't be surprised, Ken. We're all car people. Whether it's a drag car or a lowrider, it all comes down to the quality of the build. Besides, I AM an honorary Boulevardo. I bet you were the coolest dude at the prom. Plus the guys with customs and Lowriders get ALL the pussy. Pisses the jocks off to no end.

Ok, stupid question possibly. My daily is running air cylinders (if you're not familiar with them they're a cross between bags and hydros; ie: cylinders but with air instead of fluid). What do I have to do to be able to do 3 wheel motion?

the air set up i have is suppose to be able to do 3 wheel but i doubt it will. i dont know all what it takes but i have 10 switches and 8 valves. car is not done yet so i dont know if it will three wheel. but i dont think im going to use the big ugly 10 switch box i only needs fbss and pancake

yea chicks around here dont/didnt like lowriders. i went home on prom night with miss michigan:D but now i have the right one and she loves em

3 wheel is done in 3 different ways... First the Original (O.G. for you "wanksters") is WEIGHT!!! It's --THE-- way I do it.

Your trunk full of batteries and pumps is the weight factor. You have 1 front tire locked up, and 1 rear tire (oppisite one, such as driver front, passenger rear) locked up and the other rear tire dumped, all the weight in the trunk overcomes the weight in the front of the car and the "pivot point" those 2 locked up tires. The weight in the back drops down in the rear bringing up the front.

Next is what I call a "drive by 3 wheel. You do the same thing ,lock up those opposite tires and drop down that other rear tire and "gas" the motor around a corner, the inertia of the weight of the car will throw the rearend back and down getting a 3 wheel.

The last way, and what "I" consider cheating is called a chain bridge... You weld a a piece of "C" channel across the top of your frame where the cylinders go thru, then you weld 2 pieces of chain from that channel down to your rearend using gussets and reinforcement, etc. and depending on the placement of the chain (the angle) you drop down the rear of the car, raise the front and then raise "one" cylinder of the rear and the chain will "pull" up the front corner of the car, this design needs to have 2 pumps for the rear, basically the chain is forced to pull one corner, (the opposite of the cylinder you are raising) of the car up. Thats why I call it cheating, because there is no thought or design work into your set up ie. cylinder length, number of batteries weight positioned pefectly, etc. Now don't get me wrong... I HAVE done all 3 setups, it's just MY opinion is to do it the "O.G." way!! A lot of info on this, and other hydro info on a site called "lay it low . com" although you have to deal with a lot of --gangsters-- that have nothing to do but internet fight!!!! I have learned all this by trial and error and do wish SOMETIMES there were the resources back then that people have today, BUT then I wouldn't have all the stories to tell like when I didn't reinforce the frame on my dancing '63 Impala and the 4 pump 16 battery setup basically turned my rear qtrs. into an upside down "U" shape!!! Any other questions feel free to ask I love lo-ridin'!!! I hope this made sense? It is way easier to show than type with 2 damn fingers!! This little "snipet" took about 35 minutes to type!! Jesus sometimes I feel so helpless! Guess thats why I married a mexican babe!!!...Ken

I'm not sure if either of the second two will work with my set up. Obviously not running hydros eliminates the first one. But I think I'm going to go out right now and try method 2 for shits and giggles, hope it works.

  16. i swear i already posted on this thread. this is my eight hundred dollar low rider. i picked it up on july third. fifty tousand original miles for five hundred. got the wheels from a buddie for another three. i'm gonna put some 13's on it though.

most air ride only has 4-6" of travel. i think you need more lift to get it to set back.

I am not very familiar with air cylinders> I guess I hastily read your post and didn't realize you were meaning air, I just saw the (in my perception) "how do you 3-wheel??" My fault for just "skiming" what you were asking!! Check out that site...layitlow.com...thay have "some" info on air...Good luck, Ken

i went to my prom this last year and took my friends 54 chevy four door. i had my motor pulled on my dodge so i didnt make it in time for my own car. but it was still badass.

and at the time i was trying to grow a handlebar mustache, but i guess im still too young, i couldnt get it to get any good length so i cut it off. :(

I clicked it because I thought it might be mid-50's type cars.

Only questioned it because it didn't seem to fit the boards intent and purpose. Was just a question. Didn't try to get everyone's panties in a twist.

And yeah a lot of threads lately have been pure poop.
